This dropped earlier on YouTube with no press release. Google won't even direct you to http://www.ashunsoundmachines.com yet. First impressions? It's an interesting first release. I've been wondering for years why more companies weren't doing poly VA, since technology has grown so much since the 90s. The lead on this is Glen Darcey (recently with Arturia). Coolest features? --Ample surface control without menu-diving, 600+ memory banks, full-length ribbon controller that can be used in a theremin setting, deep mod matrix.

5 6-stage DAHDSR envelopes with BPM sync allowing you to sync the slope of each stage to the beat. Looping with definable number of repeats

5 LFO each with 10 waveforms + noise, delay, fade in/out, and phase. multiple trigger modes , step mode with pattern length.

From what I've read, demoers just got these, so there wasn't any chance for leaks (or for people to get deeply acquainted with them). From the early experiments, it seems it's going to be a fairly rewarding synth with its own unique space in the field.

I'd say Daniel Fisher's (Sweetwater) sounds demo was the best for showcasing its variety, but Nick's (Sonicstate) demo also showed off some nice pads and alien textures. It's sandwiched between the Sledge and Quantum, in terms of features and price. For people favoring hardware to plugins, I could see it quickly finding an audience.

Generally I hate PCA's demos. They're always bringing in some Ted Mosby to do:

1) Euro dance grooves
2) gross drum machine shite
3) pointless 1-finger stabs and soloing on a poly synth

...but they finally brought in a proper wizard to illustrate some alien terrains and vintage-flavored soundscapes. This is going to sound killer with some granular delays.

This thing actually does look pretty fun. Haven't listened to many of the demos yet, but what I have listened to sounds really good. I'd definitely be interested in giving one a shot

This sounds better than I expected. It’s definitely more interesting to me Waldorf’s Quantum or that binaural synth that was announced this year. Using digital synthesis to accomplish something that’s either extremely costly or impossible to do with analog makes a lot of sense to me.

BINGO. And with a much friendlier interface than other forward thinking synths from the past. Someone on Muff's said this is kind of like a modern day Ensoniq... but with a friendlier interface. If I don't buy a bunch of stupid crap in the next 18 months, Ummm it took all of 2 hours for that to fail. Slimed myself I could see myself picking up one of these when they inevitably go 33% (at least) below retail value. This is a pretty intense package and intuitive enough to use (from what I watched). I don't know, even keep an eye out if they release an iOS app like this.

My initial concern was build quality and internal stability, but everything I've read and heard suggests those are covered---chunky keys, stout enclosure, and people have been demoing these at trade shows without a single complaint about implementing last-minute tweaks. The audio examples have only gotten better, and that's with people barely scratching the surface of its parameters. I wonder what will come next, given their previous time at Arturia & Elektron----FM synth, analog modeling synth, granular synth, drum machine, sequencer, something similar to the Matrixbrute?

anyone got one of these? Love it? Been thinking about getting a real synth for a while...was mostly looking at the smaller ones, but seems like it would make sense to just get something like this and then not outgrow it in a month. Would love to hear from owners...love it? Wish you got something else?
