I love the idea of getting out every day. Especially just a couple miles, so you're not even needing a shower or anything when you get home. Realistically that could be well under half an hour start to finish.
A friend in my running group just finished a 50k with their dog and I was honestly pretty shocked. I didn't know dogs could run that far... but now that I'm thinking about it I guess dogs are famous for that, like the Iditarod and whatnot.

I only do around 20-25 miles a week and don't race. So that is probably the tradeoff. I'm also superstitious enough to have avoided saying I run every day. Now I know I'm gonna be forced to take a day off.

I'm trying to figure out how to get my mileage up but anything above 15 miles a week and I always fall behind on obligations like studying and family stuff. I used to go out real early, but now my wife leaves for work by 5:30. Can't reasonably get home from a run before then.
1) Tempo run on Saturdays.
2) Long run on Sundays.
That gets me 25-30k right there. I make sure I leave home at around 06:30 am so that I can still get the little raptors off to their various sports and whatever.
Then I run on my lunch breaks. We have pretty nice change rooms and showers at work and I can be a bit flexible with my schedule. So I'll put in half hour workouts on my breaks. 5 minutes to get changed to run. 10 minutes for getting changed and having a shower, so that's like 45 total. And then I'll just drink a smoothie while working.
Music out on all streaming services and bandcamp and what not.

Posting a quarantine running update. The new situation is me home all day with the kids, balancing keeping them safe and sound with my now-online school. Most days we do the classic kid handoff when my wife gets home and I go out for a run, so my consistency has gone up. Averaged 25-30 miles a week each of the last 3 weeks. Hoping to bump it up this week by running 6 days instead of 5, and then next week pushing the long run a little further.
Anyone else using running/walking/hiking to help stay sane?

Yeah I'm getting a lot more consistent. The days I don't run I'll at least get out for a walk or cycle - not wasting my one shot to go outside per day. Thankfully it's coincided with some really good (and extremely "oh my god I'm an idiot" simple) physio advice so my running is feeling better than it has in months and I think I'll be able to really up my mileage (in a slow and sustainable way). Which is what I want to do.

Nice! All that physio stuff makes such a difference. Nice! I will in turn bookmark your post. I've been doing a little daily bodyweight routine which is a great way to wake up when i'm not running in the morning and it feels good to work out the whole body, but I think I need a wider variety of exercises to go in it.

Yeah, those links are really helpful! I've been working towards Pistol squats for a long time, but not consistently enough to actually get any closer. This go around I'm just doing Bulgarian squats, figuring if I do these consistently for a good chunk of time, I'll build up the strength to really make some pistol progress.
I've been having some hip pain for the last two days. I'm trying to self-diagnose if it's an overuse issue, or if I'm doing a stretching thing wrong (one movement pattern, in particular, is on my mind because it always feels a little off. Have since stopped doing it.), or something else entirely. For now, I'm just icing my hip throughout the day and doing gentle stretching.
