- Set density and diffusion all the way to 0%, then set ER Spread set fairly high. Makes a crazy choppy, buckshot delayreverb.
- Utilize the full 230 seconds of decay the Large Hall has, and set either or both high damping/low damping to juuust above being above Off, then crank the Swirl up to maximum. Hit a single note, close your eyes, and listen to the decay very slowly filter and modulate over several minutes.
- Run monosynth through Quad Pitch, set each pitch shifter voice to be slightly out of tune to one another, panned to a different part of the stereo field, and each with different pre-delay settings. Then make sure the detuning editing page is open, play synth while using the sliders with your other hand to bend the voices in and out of tune. Massive.
- Swirly plates with heavily rolled off treble 4ever
- Make a very long, very complex patch, and then set its gate to be really aggressive. Play sparse, short percussive sounds and get these crazy bursts of huge ambience that abruptly shuts off.
- There's a lot you can do with making realistic spaces, especially with the Ambience and Stereo Room algorithms, but I mostly make the most unnatural sounds I can with it

How is the 'bloom' (ala Midiverb) on the Wedge? My $10 fancy reverb plugin (Audiority Xenoverb) and convolution IRs have gotten me hooked.

I'm not familiar with the Midiverb so I can't say. The Large Hall algo can do a thing where the reflections build up and crescendo after the initial attack if that's what you mean by bloom.

Been having a fuckin blast with the RV-500. The basic stuff sounds gorgeous, and there's tons of very weird shit you can do with it. I've already programmed like 20 patches.

Ok. So let me ask this.
What pedal out there is actually comparable to my Lexicon MPX 500 rack unit?
Gott'a be able to do concert hall level bigness. Not sound thin. Not have 50+% of what it does takes up by cliché "ambient guitar style" out of tune modulation.

For a straight forward beautiful large space, I'm going to say the Meris. But I've never played with that Lexicon so I can't compare.

Overall I'm really happy with the Merc but I know what you mean. It sounds to me like the reverberated signal is a separate instrument in the mix. It really works best for me with the mix cranked right below 100% wet. But even there, I think that there is something missing on the mix dial before it goes 100% wet. The change to 100% wet is super abrupt and it seems like the overall volume drops. I had originally got this to replace my Supermoon Chrome which really excels at overpowering high volume reverberation...guess I gotta keep both ;)

Other weird things:
-switching presets is super obvious and kills the trails. Would be soooo much sicker if the trails from the previous preset died out naturally after switching to another.
-I don't like how the button to engage the secondary knob functions is also the save button. This means if you do any tweaking of those settings on a preset they are permanent. Luckily those settings aren't ones that I fuck around with very often.

I prefer the Merc's shimmer to everything else I've heard but it is still cheesy as hell. The shimmer on this unit seems to be going for more of a sci-fi / artificial vibe, rather than the like, angelic choir sound or whatever. Not sure if I'd use it in a song but it is hella fun to play with.

This thread did nothing except sell me an Endless Summer. It's somehow cheaper than a Boss FRV-1 at this point.

the everlong reverb search continues! im glad pedals hold their value bc i have just been buying and reselling things for yonks. RRR and rm1n and og source audio reverb have been my favourite reverbs

I've always wanted to try a flint. It really does seem like it has a lot of range. I have enough reverb but just thinking about it makes me gas up a bit.

The reverb on the El Capistan is incredible as well. I think Vidret said it was like playing guitar but with cheats on

Flint is awesome, esp. the 80s verb IMO. El Cap can definitely stand on its own as a reverb, too.

The trick with the Strymon peds is to make sure there's always some other effect going on after it in the chain, otherwise you end up with that weird Strymon sheen all over your sound that makes them TGP'ers all moist.

I also jumped the Slö band wagon a couple weeks ago.

With a little bit of dirt going and the modulation off, there's not a huge audible difference between the 3 modes imo. The modulation just isn't my thing, I keep it all the way down.

Still, while not hugely versatile in the way I use it, the big washy verbs do sound WAY richer than on the stuff I tried so far. That actually says a lot about my limited reverb experience though :/

Interesting. As far as bang for the buck and precious board real estate goes, it might make sense for me to replace my Slö (slightly overkill) and DE7 with an El Cap :idea:

Edit: nevermind, apparantly the El Cap won't do more than a splash of subtle spring reverb.

Not to semi hijack the thread but can any of y'all reverb connoisseurs recommend me some modulated 'verbs? for bass?

I currently use my Digitech Hardwire in one band but can't rip it off that pedalboard for the other band I'm in. Currently using the reverb setting on the EHX Canyon (lol) but it's too straight forward for my tastes and I want to sell this pedal. I like the way my guitarist friend uses the TC Hall of Fame's mod reverb, but I'm not sure if the HoF's voicing is suitable for bass. I've been looking at Walrus Audio's Fathom too, but I'd like to be made aware of some other options. Preferably not as expensive as Chase Bliss or DBA, but I will consider 'em if they sound best. Size and menu diving can be a deal breaker though, so Boss Rv-500 is off the table as it's both.

Meris Mercury7 maybe? Used they're pretty close to half of a DBA Rooms. No menu diving but you have to remember alternate functions.
