Other than analog (spring) reverbs, they're all digital
Unless you are talking about pedals with multiple modes on the same box?
I tend to gravitate towards PAD type reverbs
I also tend to stay away from stuff with midi
Neunaber Wet is the only one I can think of right now, FV-1 based though.
I was specifically referring to presets, I realize I would be looking at a digital reverb no matter what unless spring, I just meant I don't like presets in a digital reverb as opposed to creating your own. I guess I was thinking of pedals like the Empress with specific programs, I'd rather avoid pedals like that I guess

On the Empress Reverb, you can tweak the decay, mix, output, EQ, and two different parameters (i.e. modulation, pitch, saturation, etc.) for any of the algorithm presets and then save them as your own settings. You don't have to use the presets the pedal ships with if you don't want to. Am I misunderstanding what you're describing you want to be able to do?
Yeah I had an Empress and didn't hate it but it just has a lot of stuff I won't use and maybe that's fine, I guess I just prefer less and simple but not at the sacrifice of sound. I really would like to find one with a freeze mode for pads and droning reverbs as that is probably all I really use reverb for, that and something that can decay endlessly or self oscillate without getting wild.
I just got an Empress, and while I haven't toyed with all the modes extensively yet, I will say that the shimmer-type algo ("Sparkle") and the available modes sound absolutely terrible to me, even for a shimmer.
I use the RV500. I like it because of all the under-the-hood control. I set up all these weird commands where I'll have the length set to switch between short and infinite whenever the envelope goes over a certain threshold. And I'll have a lofi modulating pitch shifted thing getting all creepy in parallel.
And I'm no tone dentist but I think it sounds pretty good.

Nice. Those internal controls are what have me interested.

what did you like/dislike about the Mercury? I tried the Atmosphere for a little bit in a store and I thought it was very good but wasn't quite for me

Various tap/ctl trigger modes can bring some serious glitch on demand, even with stock presets (some of which are actually quite 'gazey and bizarre without seeming too gimmicky). There's even a reverb type that sounds like a slackening and tightening spring and another algo that introduces windy white noise. So many possibilities, especially with the addition of a full-fledged Space Echo sim that can be run series or parallel with all presets.
There's a way to assign delay on/off as a ctl parameter, and I agree there are better delay options out there for quirkier applications, but I'm satisfied for the most part with anything that provides warbly, modulated echoes (the "Cheesy Echo" preset checks relevant boxes for me and sounds like most of Slowdive's latest release).
I remember people complaining the RV500 having a limit of 10 seconds of decay, not sure if they have fixed it in a firmware update, or if people reporting this fact didn't know how to get past the 10 seconds, which is typical in newly released stuff AND people using digital Boss/Roland stuff.
