Help me figure out if this is possible

Post by Pete »

Hey, I’m trying to accomplish something within my pedal chain, and I can’t figure out how to make it work, or if it even CAN work... So I’m coming here now for suggestions and input, as you guys are always helpful. :thumb:

So, I have an Electro Harmonix Chillswitch, which is a momentary true bypass looper. You can set up pedals within the loop, and set it so those pedals are engaged with a momentary footswitch stomp (pedals in loop aren’t on when you take your foot off the Chillswitch footswitch), or the pedals are cut off with a momentary footswitch stomp (How I usually use it).

The way I have it now is I’ll have a fuzz pedal in the Chillswitch loop, and when I step on the Chillswitch, the fuzz is cut out and it’s the clean channel of my amp. What I’m trying to do now is add an overdrive pedal into the picture, so when the Chillswitch is engaged, I’m playing through the overdrive only. When I take my foot off the Chillswitch, it’s back to just fuzz. That’s the goal. I’ve been fiddling around with configurations involving a fuzz, overdrive and a mini Saturnworks single true bypass looper, and I can’t quite get what I want. I can get it so the overdrive is momentarily activated (without the fuzz), but I can’t figure out how to switch between the fuzz and overdrive with the momentary footswitch, which is my goal. I can only get it so the fuzz and overdrive are stacked together, and then switch to just the overdrive, with the momentary footswitch, which is ALMOST what I want.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish what I’m trying to do? Or if it’s even possible? Hope my post made sense.

You could get a looper pedal that uses DPDT relays to bypass or activate loops.

Or switch your overdrive to an amptweaker with the two loops built into it (one activates with the pedal, the other when bypassed). Wouldn't be momentary unless you maybe did a switch swap.

With DPDT relays, does that mean one loop is automatically bypassed when another loop is activated?

an EHX Switchblade PRO could do this, but without the momentary thing you need.

otherwise ask somebody who can build you such a switch with 2 loops
