Exately this I was going to suggest when I saw the topic title! Tough I've never played it, and the information about this is very spare and there are not so many demos out there...
I have been interested in one for some time, so it's definitely a pedal I'll be keeping an eye out for this year
I have a flikrrr pedal. My opinion is that I don’t think it will be what you are looking for with random tremolo. It seems random but it is actually a fixed “random” sound if that makes sense. You can’t change the speed at all. The waveforms are good but not much difference in sound. I do really like the flikrrr but it’s actually a very limited pedal. Also so far I have never had it pair well with dirt pedals. Hope this helps.
The more I listen to the one demo out of there of this pedal the more I think it actually might be what I'm looking for. Some of the random trem settings on pedals like the cusack or Drolo pedals are cool, but seem somehow more disruptive and less musical than the flikrrr. I almost feel like maybe the subtlety of the pedal is the key. Not sure tho, I just have major GAS at the moment, so I feel like I need everything.
The depth doesn't quite give you that choppy, on/off square wave sound does it? Seems like it gets close, but not entirely there in the demos. Speed control would be a major plus.

Yeah you are correct about the depth knob. Not full on chop but close. It is definitely a more subtle tremolo. If you really are GASing right now I say pull the trigger. I do really like the pedal myself. Just wanted to let you know it’s not as adjustable as other tremolo pedals.
qersty wrote:Not real random but the zvex tremolo has a mode where it randomly steps through 8 steps of the sequence. I think the sequencer controls volume so its still stepped at a set rate which may make it seem not as random. The malekko remake of the goatkeeper has a (two actually) random mode too but as I have understood you only get random for one of the two steps. First step you can set random waveform and/or rate subdivision but for the second step you gotta have a set waveform and subdivision. Another option is getting something like a source audio reflex, which does s/h to expression out, and run it with a pedal that has expression input. The gravitas would be awesome for this because you can control any parameter via expression but you can also shut off the internal lfo and make it a $400 volume pedal so you can have pure s/h trem as well as randomizing rate, depth, tone, master volume, lfo pw.
sorry to hijack the the thread but I am in the midst of recording a bunch on jams and I am just so enthused with how practical random modulation actually is, it really just hit me in light of this flikrrr and also this mutron biphase vid

I've always been dying to toss in hard tremolo and a slow phaser on both rhythm and leads but it just always ends up kinda distracting enough that I cant even overdub,i f you take the same sound and use at least 1 extra LFO in any application it results so much more pleasing!

And you mentioned that it’s more of a “fixed random” pattern. Is it seemingly random, but repeats that seemingly random pattern?
The Snazzy FX Tracer City, while not specifically a tremolo, can get some trem-like sounds and has random lag, depth and speed controls. What I've heard of it sounds cool - not necessarily what I'm looking for, but could be someone else's jam.

I just took receipt of the LAL FLIKRRR due to this thread. It rules face for humanizing drum machine beats but I do not know what it does to a guitar as I do not play guitar.
