There was a lot of the standard NAMM tropes like that one super experimental midi controller that's supposed to change everything and no one sees after the show. Every year there's one. Same with the milquetoast overdrive tied to some guitar hero or another.

What are ya'll's winners this season? I'm between that hollowbody baritone from Squier and the Korg Wavestate.
I only really paid attention to pedals, so my faves would be limited to that category, and I'd be reserving excitement until I can hear an actual demo of these - DBA Rooms, OBNE Visitor and SolidGoldFX Nu-33.

The single best thing I've seen this NAMM is easily Korg's ARP 2600. I salivate just thinking about it.

I'm intrigued by the Wavestate. I need to watch more about how the programming is. I am impressed with how it sounds and I think the design is a winner, but I don't know if it's for me.

The other cool things:

Sequential's Pro 3
DBA Rooms
CXM 1978

I haven't paid too much attention to NAMM, but I have to agree the Arp 2600 is by far the winner for me. I wish I could afford one. Just going to keep hoping the mini version comes out soon and is reasonably priced.

I don't have the munny 4 a Korg 2600, but I might have enough for a Behringer 2600 :hobbes:

Is there a price for the Behringer yet?

I don't think so - that's one of the earliest prototypes, they must have put the video together quick to steal a little thunder from Korg.

Not yet, but apparently it's been in the works since 2017? They'll probably announce it nearer to Superbooth, but I can only imagine it will be less than Korg's $3900 ARP..........right?

The Behringer will definitely be far less than the full sized Arp 2600, but I'm still just going to hold out hope for the mini Arp 2600 being a more reasonable price. As much as I want an Arp 2600, I'm not desperate enough to get in bed with one of these Behringer clones yet.

I am excited to read more about the Alexander Spaceball. Forecast is looking "likely" for a purchase on my end! I don't quite understand what's happening yet but I like what I heard so far!

Oi bruv, I get where you're coming from and know you have the best intentions but... it's just a synth m8. It's not like you're at a rub and tug getting a table shower from a very sad and scared Belarusian Girl. That would be VERY bad.

I talked to the ghost of Alan R Pearlman and he said he gives you a pass because 1. He heard your sweetjams on Instagram and 2. He told me the time he cared about people buying his designs came and went after 1981. That's right... nearly 40 years ago.

KORG also called me and said, "It fine." and that releasing their rendition of a synth, from a company that went bankrupt almost 40 years ago was "Kind of an ironic goof."

I have a Model D clone I got refurbished, and as I've said many times, I have a sneaking suspicion it probably does not sound as good as an OG, and the 3 osc, filter, amp paradigm is nearly 50 years old is not a great big secret anymore. We're all going to be okay

Now, if they made a clone of MATHS or any of the SOMA stuff (for example), that would be uncool.

I may have come across a little more negative than intended there. I don't really mind that Behringer are cloning old synths; it's cool that they're making it possible to own some of the unobtainium synths.

I was more so making a comment on my own personal preferences and biases. Mainly, I'd prefer to own the real thing if it's available and I'm slightly biased against Behringer because I've had quality issues with their stuff in the past.

If Behringer were to clone Korg’s Wavestate, the Roland Jupiter X, the Moog Mother 32, or any other current production synth I could see being upset (the Mother 32 clone does upset me). But where they mostly clone products that are either vintage reissues that are priced to appeal to vintage synth collectors or are vintage synths that are not in production anymore, I really don’t see the harm in buying a Behringer 808 or anything else they make that’s not a clone of an existing synth.

I’ve never had any quality issues with Behringer producst (I have one that’s roughly ten years old and still kicking). I have heard people complain about the plastic, but it seems like they aren’t worse than anybody else as far as longevity goes?

@November - I was just writing things in jest. The idea of talking to the ghost of Alan R Pearlman is ludicrous but especially funny if it's about someone's instagram.
@01010111 - My most 'plastic' synths are actually :duck: ROLANDS!!!!
