I read about that new thing today/last night maybe?

Coolest and also scariest thing about that is that the knobs are also footswitches. If that's done well that's a pretty good idea on a multi-effects unit like this.

Meris's alt functions are integral to how the pedal works and not having them labeled is a huge problem when you're trying to get stuff done. My main issue with Meris is dividing a hidden alt function knob into 24 segments and its just a game of turn and guess if you're where you want to be.
Agree with all of this, and would go further to say that accessing the back page by saving the preset is terrible. I love Terry and Angelo but the fact that you bork your beautifully crafted preset tone every time you want to try to find the phaser rate setting is so frustrating.

To me, it's more about having no indicator as to where they're set. It makes it really difficult to mentally map how/what I need to adjust to get what I want, especially small adjustments. By the time I've tweaked a few primary knobs, I've kinda lost where I am with the secondaries, usually. In the case of the Ottobit, not knowing where I was at with the sequencer at any given moment and how "deep" each step was relative to the others made it a pain to get to grips with.
In general I don't get why companies don't do this. The Roland GAIA has so many extra functions per knob when you hit shift and it's not labeled and barely in the manual.

Alexander Pedals, if you're reading this, this does not apply to you. You nailed it with proper labeling of alt functions. Gold Standard.
Thanks. It does make the pedal graphics more cluttered but at the end of the day if you can't use the pedal what's the point?

This could be cool...

https://www.gamechangeraudio.com/light-pedal/

It will be pricey, and I feel like their pedals are a bit of flash, but it will probably sound pretty rad.

I was about to post this. Hyped to see more about it. I think their brand name leaves a poor first impression but the Plasma is quite stellar to me (an unpopular opinion apparently) and by all accounts the Plus pedal is a well conceived freeze/hold/layering device.

Totally! I almost bought a Plus, but the price was just a bit much. I think the fact that they’re aggressive marketers and they have some gimmicky features in their pedals put me off at first, but it seems like they’re doing some innovative work.

The Zoia seems overly complicated for programming in a rack but I'm a wuss who likes simple shit.

I've wanted a Plasma or Plasma Coil for so long. You're the only person I know of that actually owns one. I might PM you a bunch of questions but a vaguely remember drunkenly doing that once already.
