I actually really appreciate that approach! Look at the Geiger Counter Pro (work with me on this... I know the Muff is quite different  ) you got a pedal, presets, and a free editor. If they also made it a plug in... more people would have it. If Malekko did that release plan for the Scrutator (presets + a plug in) I'd be all over it. Oh whoops... also read it's an interface! That's awesome!

....I'm not getting another muff though

Speaking of Malekko... are we going to get the D this year? (Man they really dookied the bed with that announcement all those years ago! Malekko, I love you dearly... you suck at announcing products though  )

They are really smart to do this, if only for the sole reason of releasing it as a plugin. If pedal companies want to stay in the 'game' so to speak, they are going to need to embrace at a minimum starting to do this, otherwise people will just make equivalent clones of stuff themselves and sell it out from under them under different names. Ive said this forever, and also the inverse, where plugin companies should make an interface stompbox that just lets you drag and drop your plugins you want to use live as a pedal too. whoever does this is going to be rich, as there are so many plugins that people would love to use without staring at or connecting to a laptop to play live with. if i wasn't so unskilled in this area, i would just make them myself :picard:

I think the problem with that is any stompbox of that sort would need to basically run Linux and there are relatively few Linux-compatible VSTs.

Scarlett is totally Linux compatible (as a former Linux user I had to do a lot of research on which one to buy). (Edit: this all sounds well above my level of understanding but I used Linux exclusively for 5 years for audio processing and Scarlett was the fuckin’ jam)

@sharky: what is the Malekko “D”? I love their 616!! And I’ve always wanted a B:Assmaster (that I could afford!).

Yes, I may be missing something but 1. I have two linux laptops where I muck about with audio and they're fine (NOT A PROFESSIONAL). 2. Found plenty of VSTS for Linux 3. Even if they're not supported, you can conjure something with an iota of command line know how (or do the Temporary Knowledge Adderall Shuffle). I'm a bit dense but I'm not following why stomp box companies would have to use linux? WMD made their Geiger VST for Windows and OS X. Again, I could be missing something here. Not sure I'm understanding (running on 3 hours of sleep LOL).

@Retinal - A drum machine call "Mr. D". Malekko announced three grooveboxes in 2017 NAMM. The Manther is the only one that actually came out so far. This is not the first time Malekko has done this... there is a whole thing on ILF about one of their delays not making it to a final product. I'm a huge fan of Malekko! I just find this amusing.

I'm responding to
What I mean is, if people want to run their own plugins in a stompbox ("Ive said this forever, and also the inverse, where plugin companies should make an interface stompbox that just lets you drag and drop your plugins you want to use live as a pedal too.")
Workarounds to make incompatible plugins work with Linux don't work if you're trying to drag and drop into a pedal.

Plugins are written specifically for Windows/OS X/Linux - not all of them for Linux and you're never going to be able to commercially produce a Windows or OS X stompbox, so it has to be Linux-based. (The Akai Force and MPC Live are running a custom Linux OS AFAIK, so think of that but smaller.) So, from the list of my plugins, that means no Valhalla Delay or VintageVerb, no Eventide Mangledverb (or other Eventide plugins), no SoundToys plugins.

If you go with a closed ecosystem to ensure compatibility then it's just another multi-effects unit, like a HX FX, Zoia or Mod Duo X.

The Geiger and the Muff are going the opposite direction - bringing a real world pedal into the DAW, which is much easier. If you're creating a mobile DAW (essentially) in pedal form it's much more difficult. Akai doesn't let people use outside plugins in the Force or Live even, theoretically, they could host them.

Nice. I wanted to get one when they were in production but missed out.

The 3699 looks like a Foxx Tone Machine. I wonder if the Roebuck is a Silvertone amp-like circuit?

Things I'm curious about:
- Alexander has 3 pedals coming up, one is the hyped super-neo-matic, one is an Overdrive of some kind, but the third one should be a weirder one.(https://www.instagram.com/p/B6yeXA4FIie ... pz6vsy8yex
- looking forward some demos of the Champion Leccy Skitter. If I'm not wrong it seems to be a reverb/tremolo where you can choose if the trem is applied only to the clean signal or the reverberated signal, whit a couple more tweaks (selectable waveform etc, it's in the same style fo the Woozy). Curious to see if set superfast it can get into ring-modded reverb territory.
- Red Panda Context 2?? Maybe in the same size of the Tensor/Particle?
Skitter is basically what you said, but you can do trem on reverb, dry, or both, and you can invert the waveform so it essentially crossfades between them. It’s super cool. Doesn’t get quite to audio rate speeds but it gets pretty crunchy at its fastest setting.

Also hoping for a Context 2. I’ve been holding out getting a V1 Context just in case it’s really happening

Looks like an Ibanez Mostortion w/ clipping options :idk: (edit: OG's are around $400?!)
Danelectro wrote:Reimagining of a Japanese-made MOSFET distortion pedal from the 1990s
The original pedal is a staple amongst Nashville session players
Generous control set produces a vast array of textures from sustaining boost to full-on distortion
3-band EQ enables near-unlimited tone-shaping
3 clipping modes facilitate greater sonic flexibility than a vintage MOSFET distortion

Back Talk is a great delay. Had one I shouldn't have sold years ago.
