Yes, yes, yes, this!Jwar wrote:The pedals are fun but ultimately lackluster imo and lack any real direction
The lack of direction has certainly been a turn off for me watching pedals the past few years. Too many try to be the be-all end-all instead of actually doing one thing great. Especially with the limitations a lot of current pedal platforms have, it gets annoying. I still use the Raptio because it does what it says on the tin, gives me all the control I need, and excels at what it does.
More focus could really help the weird sounds territory of pedals instead of trying to one-up each other in features that you're never going to tweak or care about while playing your instrument.

Agreed, while I enjoy having a couple of Swiss knife effects, the ones that are overall well calibrated in every mode are only few.Eivind August wrote: More focus could really help the weird sounds territory of pedals instead of trying to one-up each other in features that you're never going to tweak or care about while playing your instrument.
Probably some companies want to cover too much territory with the aim of making a single pedal appealing for more kinds of potential users, but losing focus on the effect itself.

Exactly. Though in retrospect that post makes me sound like an old man yelling at clouds. People should use whatever they want to use, and my personal taste probably has little bearing on the pedal community at large.

Re: Gear Trend predictions: PERFECT VISION EDITION
I kinda went off all the fancy boutique fancy guitar pedals a few years ago, but I was playing bass in a band at the time, so I wasn't actively using them and shit was expensive. More recently, all my nice pedals have been in storage for well over a year while I was between houses (was staying at my fiance's mother's house during that time...). Now that I have been deprived of them for so long, I am actually super excited now to finally get back into my good stuff and explore pedals again in general.

Lots more simple modeling like the Tone Master and Iridium.
