Compact multi-modulation pedals?

What options do I have besides those Zoom pedals or the ehx Mod 11?

I'm mostly after something that covers the basics, vibe/flange/chorus/tremelo /etc. I don't use any of those effects enough to justify the money and board space. Not so much into filters, bit crushing, pitch shifting,...Which is why I didn't keep the Bitquest I had.

The Line 6 HX a the Eventide H9 are both overkill for me.

The 200 series from BOSS is actually fairly small. The MD200 does classic modulation and will save 4 onboard presets, if you only want to keep a few staples at the ready.

Zoom Multistomp are super valid and best option if you're on a budget. Also the offer more stuff like delays and reverbs, etc... I have 2 of these and one is always in my pedalboard.

Multi stomp is pretty fucking cool. Lots of cool stuff under the hood. Lots of people out there who created and crafted some really sweet stuff. So you can do the normal stuff but also some bleep bloop weird stuff.

Which one should I be looking at though? The MS-50G and MS-70CDR seems to have some overlap. I'm mainly looking for phaser/flange/chorus. Delay/reverb would be cool too, but it's not at all a requirement or anything.

I tend to be kinda cork sniffy when it comes to modulation, the low price of the Zoom makes me worry I'll be annoyed by how the chorus/flanger/phaser sound more processed and digital than what I'm used to.

I'm still leaning more towards the Boss MD-200 tbh...It has more controls, seems easier to use. Better built quality too probably, and it has tap tempo....
Though the price tag and footprint are in favor of the Zoom units...Decisions decision :/

the zoom is totally worth it for the price tag, i grabbed one earlier this year and have been more than surprised. It may sound a bit cold but if you pair it with the correct pedals you won't hear such a great difference, plus the ablity of stacking multiple effects lets you reach more or less every modulation idea you have.

IIRC the only difference between the MS50G and the MS70CDR is that the first one has also dirt and amp simulator effects, but only mono in and stereo out, while the ms70cdr has stereo in and out but no dirt and amp simulator effects.

I see, so out of those two Zoom peds the MS70CDR would be the right one for me. Thanks for clearing that up, I'm too lazy to google it myself

Good point about "pairing it with the correct pedals", didn't think of that. I rarely play clean. All the fuzz and overdrive drown out the nuances in tone I'd have to pay considerably more for when going for the Boss MD-200. There's no used MD-200's floating around anyway, so I guess the MS70CDR is now in the lead.

In my setup I have mostly the MS70 last in the chain (before the looper), there I have all my reverbs. Before the MS I have a Timeline for delay, and sometimes after the MS70 I put a Mercury7. MS70 into the Mercury7 you get some huge glorious sounds!

The powerful thing about the Multistomp is that you can create patches of max 6 effects, it's like having a pedalboard inside a small stompbox! All my reverb presets are at least 2 reverbs in series with maybe a modulation in between, or once I created some very cool modulation patches, like a vibrato one which was 3 different tipes of vibrato/chorus effect cascaded together.
I also did in the past some AB testing with Eventide Space and Strymon Timeline (few effects are "clones" from these pedals), and the Zoom emulations are quite rad, not as hi-fi and headroomish as the originals, but so close that in live situation you won't notice the difference.

The only limit with this pedal it's your ingenuity!

It is annoying, but not 80s digital synths annoying.
Results are rewarding tho.

It's super annoying, BUT I create all of my patches with the desktop editor, and with that everything is becomes fast and eas, even with 6 effects stacked. If there wasn't the editor I'd probably sell the pedal because I hate menu diving unless everything is written on 1 visible page.

I never had issues with the menu diving of the moltistomp, and to be honest I find it really user friendly.

As always reading the manual is a must no matter if you are dealing with a multistomp, or what ever other ocmplex digital effect unit.
