I added this to the cable storage thread but really it needs to be in the gillman basement thread.

I took the ILF cable storage challenge while my wife binge watches Queer Eye upstairs.....

45 minutes of work and about $12 for the pegboard at home depot.

That's a good idea (and I love the arm!) but I think I would be tempted to plug the cables into the holes in the board and leave them dangle, which is probably not very good for cable health.

Hmmmmmm, the book idea is interesting. I can offer higher resolution images should someone *really* want to go down that rabbit hole. I could also dig up some proper HOARDER level pics if needed. I feel like the path is much more pronounced in today's pics, which makes me feel like it's improving, hahahaha.

I feel like I'm pretty open about my processes and so forth, but I also don't want to be the guy who hypes gear that is NLA (like the old tubed stuff) and impacts the cost of it, so I'm happy to answer questions about mysteries in those pics but hate tooting my own horn.

I want that board idea for cables only with plain hooks into the wall. I have plaster walls in my music room so this is very easy if I were to go to the extreme lengths of buying a few hooks and screwing them into the walls. :whateva:

@crochambeau - What was the pedal to the screen right of the viper?
I love the Kawai placement btw.

Seven knobs and purple spots? That's a 1v4 Crustacean owned by comesect (I believe it was in the shop for a broken switch replacement at the time).

The Kawai precariously stacked on a pile of junk? hahaha. You can't really see it in the new set, it's in the synth closet lovingly covered by a shirt (just under the wall mounted CZ-101)

Have you tried either of those (Kawai and/or Casio) through the Stone Splitter? Do you have a creation of yours that you JUST LOVE to use with synths? I re-watched the Mudlark demo from last year again today actually.

I'm still working on the Stone Splitter, so it's a circuit that's not yet in constant rotation, but it will be soon.

Mudlark is my current favorite for synths, it rides amplitude envelopes in a manner that I can't attribute to anything else. The Mudlark was held up for a bit because it's behavior is not calibrated for guitar, so a lot of the control ranges were initially unsatisfactory while strumming with single coil pups, but I got used to it and it seemed that there was enough functional range, and then I plugged synths in and had a "don't change a thing" moment.

Ring mod is another, for obvious reasons. I think synths and drum machines are such a staple to my own interests that I make sure all the designs work with them as well.

Crustacean with input is another fun one, but I have yet to build another for myself.

All of those sort of occupy completely different realms.

The Kawai is ailing. I need to recap the PSU, and there's some dodgy logic keeping some panel LEDs lit and partially scrambling the display. It's functionally there, though last time I plugged it in it sounded really thin (may have been supporting gear). I tried burning the Tauntek firmware with a friends help and hit a wall, so currently my plan is to freshen up the analog, root out any problematic logic, and then buy some eprom that have been burned by someone who knows what they are doing. I really want to be able to play it stacked via MIDI.

The CZ is a darling synth, fills the void that ousting my Yamaha TX81z left (but without the every present floor noise that put me at odds with the Yamaha). The CZ-101 and the Akai Timbre Wolf are the two keyed synths I grab the most lately, though largely just goofing off or source checking builds.

But have you plugged one of your synths into one of yours? I am curious about... things...

I'm feeling like Stuart Silver in the gif today (the guy next to Liz).

I have played with the early prototypes, but I've yet to enjoy the more refined build. Soon. Very soon.
