Anyone futz with a Source Audio C4?

Demos I have checked out are all pretty cheeseball, which is not unusual for synths things. Any of y’all used one for evil, and have anything to report?

Yeah, I really dig it. The app is key for something extra and tweaking it to your liking. It's a pretty cool pedal. Very useful. Maybe the best of the lot IMO.

Right on. Anything in particular it does well? Can it get nasty without outboard effects/dirt, or is it all pretty slick sounding?

I have one and dig it. If you understand subtractive synthesis it’s pretty easy to make what your heart desires. Otherwise you can just scroll through community presets, and when you find one you like, tweak it til you make something you like better. It’s not a real analog synth, and it’s triggered by your guitar (tracking is great tho), so just gotta go with that in mind. But between the filters (which you can control by expression, envelope, or LFO), and the dirt, you can make some pretty gross shit. Add in the oscillators or pitch shifters for more harmonic complexity. I have some patches up including a ring mod type sequence and a bit crusher with LFO on filter. One dude programmed a glitch fm patch (just strike a chord and shit goes haywire). Obv more folks use it for funk-oriented stuff, so many patches will be geared towards that, but even just adding a simple saw oscillator down an octave or 2 + gated fuzz + filter will give you a pretty fat and dirty sound on its own.

FWIW, outside the C4 I tend to like using fuzzes and dirt in combination with ring mod, frequency shifters, sample rate reduction, flangers controlled by expression, and filters and then use things like particle v2, mood, Radical delay, and Thermae for glitchy/pitchy/loopy stuff.
