This's a thread I made for us to discuss gear acceptance and/or rejection, not a thread for you to post The Cheat GIFS.

Maybe it's 'cos I'm poor, but I always find good use for a pedal. Granted, some people might consider said "good use" a horrible abuse, but never mind.

It depends on if I bought it on impulse or researched it for a while. If I bought it impulsively and I dont gel with it after a few hours I typically get rid of it relatively quick. If I do the research and GAS on it for a minute then I'll usually give it a while and see if I can make it work. Prime example, the gen loss. I had one a few years ago and I didn't really like it as much as I hoped. I held onto it for a while and ended up trading it away. Then yesterday happened and I grabbed the CBA version because knobs does a fantastic job of making shit sound way better than I do.

12 minutes tops. I rarely make “impulse” purchases without watching 40 videos - and usually everything I buy is used - so I really need to think about it (do I want to drive across town on my Saturday to buy this dumb pedal?) so it’s a no brainer by the time I get it.

When I impulse bought the Outer Rings due to the amazing look of the pedal I knew within 13 minutes of its arrival that it wasn’t what I wanted. And I flipped it for a moderately reasonable price (what I paid, plus shipping plus oh, 10% annoyance tax) within a week.

I also don’t buy things with menus, or things that are too complex. Unless it’s the MS20 but I am willing to do the work figuring it out. I basically only buy distortion pedals or ring modulators so I have a pretty good idea of how they will sound and if I will like them right away.

Don’t get me wrong - I flip shit all the time but it’s not because I don’t like it, more because I’m not using it.

Okay one more - I bought an Earthquaker interstellar orbiter - I still don’t know if I like it. I don’t dislike it! But I have no use for it. But I don’t think I understand it. I highly doubt I would sell it.

A very, very short period of time (<5m usually).

The only question typically is especially on bigger ticket items (since I buy new the vast majority of the time) is whether to keep it or not. That I give a couple weeks to think on typically before I go ...ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY.

Although I can say for three out of four of my modern Gibsons, that was less than a day to go "Yep, MINE."

Your mom only needs a short period of time.

Years... and it's only good until further notice. I'm not exaggerating. I put stuff away and come back to it all the time. Pedals are conducive to that though as they don't take up a ton of space. THANKFULLY... I was never an 'amp guy' (I have two combo amps... that's it... they're not very big)... I would not sit on a bunch of amps.
I think a lot of people can relate to the sentiment of, "It's more of a hassle for me to sell than it is to store."
I get very hyped for new releases but the stuff I hype over is pretty niche (comparatively speaking)... I'm also a sucker for a good deal though.
Lastly, I'm just a down right MASTER of rationalizing purchase  Oh man... the synapses are strong are that front!

Actually I should add, I "try" to read the manual before acquisition (except dirt... I really rely on my ears via demo... or price if it's low enough). Tremolo does this... if I catch something that seems annoying the manual... it's out. There are just too many delays/modulation/reverbs on the market. I'm not trying to solve a puzzle to summon the Cenobites.

I tend to buy stuff because I have some specific plan for it, so I usually know whether it does what I want it to do in a couple of minutes.
