Sunn 200s, so 60ish watts. Eventually I'll get a bigger amp again but for now, that's as much as it's gonna see. Those celestions you mention are prob out of my price range anywayBlackened Soul wrote:That sounds right, there is also the wattage/headroom thing paired with how big an amp you are using, personally I don't ever go under 400 watts on a speakeroh stay away from those Celestion green something neodymium things.. Maybe it was because I had a prototype one but it was the most beefless of speakers

Re: 15" Speaker Suggestions
Might want to check out the eminence deltalite II 2515. Would probably be around 250 for a used pair. They sound great on bass and can be used for guitar as well.

Re: 15" Speaker Suggestions
Finally tested the Jensen Neo 15-150's from my Bassman, in the Peavey. I like that setup more so far, but still having issues. Seems like the speakers break up pretty easy with my low strings. Fine for now, but definitely want to replace them still. I also contacted Jensen to see if those speakers are ok to use with bass, in the vented cab.
My speaker criteria has changed a bit now...solely bass guitar use, and preferably </= $325 total, but not absolutely set. Just seems like if I'm going much over that I may be better off buying a different/newer cab.
Ps. Still going over the previous recs, thanks.

I didn’t see anyone mention this, so forgive me if it’s repeated and / or obvious. Bass speakers are much more picky about cabinet and port sizes, so I would measure the inside dimensions of your cabinet as well as the vent / port size and compare that to the specs on these speakers that meet your criteria. I’m not sure if this would work or not, so this is 100% just something to try that might be a huge failure, but you might be able to make a false bottom to install inside your cab that would make the volume of the cab more ideal for those speakers.

Re: 15" Speaker Suggestions: New Criteria Update
I was reading more about that before you brought it up. My cab is actually separated in the middle, so it's really like two individual 1x15 in a big box, each with their own vent (a 7x7x9 triangle). Comes out to roughly 3.23 cu. ft. per side. Idk how to account for the vent though. I'm not opposed to mounting something to block the them, but would rather save that. Seems to be plenty of speakers made for vented/ported boxes.JonnyAngle wrote:This is 100% trueduffmcshark wrote:I didn’t see anyone mention this, so forgive me if it’s repeated and / or obvious. Those, as well as some non neo ones are on my ever growing listJonnyAngle wrote:well then i change my mind to the kappalite 3015lf
These Jensen speakers are breaking up easily, in an unpleasant way, on my low strings (tuned to D standard). Ran them with an even lower wattage amp, turned the bass down, and still no dice. So I don't think it's the low end causing it. Even my guitar will do it...maybe something is wrong with them? What should I look for in the next set to avoid this?...Forget it and buy an Ampeg 8x10?

Gonna try and narrow down my options a bit today. I'll prob post my list, with general info on each, later. Maybe all of this will help someone else down the line.
Been pulling up various old threads for these exact cabs. Some beneficial, others not so much, hah.
