New Boss Synth Pedal - SY-1
Hi everyone
Boss have a new Synth pedal, I guess they've got bored with EHX having all the synth pedals!

Re: New Boss Synth Pedal - SY-1
I'm genuinely considering swapping my Enzo for one. I think the Enzo sounds better/fuller/more like a regular synth, but just having independent wet and dry volumes and no "hold this and remember what knob did what" bs makes this a little more appealing to me right now. Got to remember the 11 variations in each mode, I suppose.
Still, nice one BOSS. Could have added a CBAish preset function though (3 way toggle with 2 presets plus live mode).

I’m hoping this causes a glut of cheap used SY-300s. Though I’ve already got a backlog of learning curves that I’m catching up with . . .

This is 1000 times more appealing to me than any Meris product for this exact reason.UglyCasanova wrote:I'm genuinely considering swapping my Enzo for one. Also this is polyphonic which Meris doesn't do on anything.

This sounds truly wretched. It's worse than the bad factory presets on a digital synth from the 90s. ----Yes, you can get cool sounds if you cover it up with other layers (delay, modulation, reverb, dirt), but if you're going to do that, you might as well get something else that isn't so thin and digital in sound quality.

Re: New Boss Synth Pedal - SY-1
I recently bought an FM4 and don’t really love it - been debating a new synth pedal and sort of conflicted between the Keeley, new EHX Bass Synth and (after I watch the video demos) perhaps this one. I would never consider a Meris, I watched the Pedals and Effects video for one and after 3 minutes I was like “I can do all these secondary knobs” and put it out of my mind.UglyCasanova wrote:”hold this and remember what knob did what"

Enzo does poly. Pretty well too. But I get your point.whoismarykelly wrote:This is 1000 times more appealing to me than any Meris product for this exact reason.UglyCasanova wrote:I'm genuinely considering swapping my Enzo for one. Re: New Boss Synth Pedal - SY-1
This is a little too heavy on stock presets for my taste, but I bet they sell a ton of these to starting out guitarists who go "wait, I can make synth sounds for boss prices??" Hopefully that means they end up kinda inexpensive used, in which I case I'd grab one for layering.
Also doesn't Hedra do polyphony? Or is it not true poly?

I heard the polyphony on it was weak and limited to simple octave and fifth intervals.Bartimaeus wrote:This is a little too heavy on stock presets for my taste, but I bet they sell a ton of these to starting out guitarists who go "wait, I can make synth sounds for boss prices??" Its def a requirement for me. And if a $129 Pitch Fork (or my Richochets for that matter) handles polyphony perfectly, its hard to justify a $300 pitch pedal that doesn't.Tom Von Kramm wrote:Polyphony = Must Buy

Both the Pitchfork and the Ricochet are pretty fucking great. especially at the prices they can be had.whoismarykelly wrote:Its def a requirement for me.
