So I rearranged and downsized my board a bit. Now it's just Spatial Delivery > Data Corrupter > Black Finger > Dispatch Master. Black Finger still brings extra punch and balance to my bass sound, but it also brings out a lot more mayhem from the Spatial Delivery/Data Corrupter comboJero wrote:See, that sounds useful to me for sure. Gives my bass so much more punch and a much more consistent sound. Definitely not transparent or low noise though. It brings its own characterJero wrote:I've ignored compressors for the most part but seeing that BF on your board the other day had me interested.MrNovember wrote:I've got to second the Accountant recommendation. I use it as an always on pedal on my guitar board for similar reasons. I especially like it when I switch to the lap steel as I generally play with my fingers so it helps to balance everything out.
I also use a Black Fingers on my bass board and it can definitely get some more out there sounds. I tend to crank the pre/post gain on it, which gives me massive sounds!

Re: Compression For Weirdos
i've been interested in the Black Finger for awhile now...i figure it's the closest i could get to a rackmount tube processor, and would probably sound even better with NOS tubes.
on the other hand, i absolutely do not recommend the Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone; i had one and found it utterly useless for anything other than excessive-squish-with-rampup-noise.

Yeah I've heard good things about swapping the tubes in the Black Finger. I haven't tried it out yet, but I will eventually.
