let’s talk about the particle(page 2)
I’m looking for a pitch shift/delay that can do the mode 7 thing as well as other pitchydelay stuff. I’ve had the pitchfactor and while it Was everything I ever wanted it was just too big and way too much goin on (I’m a simple man). Also. If there is something that I have missed out that does like a “pixely” type of pitch shifty octave stuff that’d be rad. Small size and cheap is key. May jus pick up another ps3 but maybe there is something better

Re: Boss ps3 and Charlie foxtrott alternatives
Also looking to get another Charlie foxtrott cause I miss mine dearly. I know there is that giant glitch thread that I have read thru but I would like to hear if there is another pedal that I should consider before I go back to Charlie. Like maybe you have had that and like every other glitch box and would like to tell me to get something else instead. Lastly, if there is something that can replace both that would just be great

Def read the glitch thread. The OP covers a bunch of pedals at least.
Nothing does what the CF does exactly but ReVolvers do a big part of that effect which is the Auto setting. Just doesn't have the pitch bleeps and bloops. A Tensor will do the reverse and pitch stuff but its not the same as Mode 7. IMO the best Mode 7 replacement is a Timeline which also does a ton of other stuff and functions as a looper. I remember loving Mode 7 in the early 2000s but it doesn't hold up as well without independent control over pitch and delay time.

Totally see what you are saying with the mode 7. Time line is way too big and too much for what I need. I was watching demos of the old blood noise mondgreen and that seems neat. Tensor is cool but just too much dollars for me right now. But from what you are saying and what I have read I feel like I may just have to go with the charlie

My non-Eventide suggestions for Mode 7 stuff are the Boss RPS-10 and SE-70 half racks. Either can go beyond, particularly the 70’s pitch-delay algorithm which is insane. I really shouldn’t buy any more rack stuff but I’m sure I will buy one just for that algorithm.
But you want small. So get another PS-3?

Have you considered an EQD Rainbow Machine as a mode 7 replacement? It can do a lot more than bleeps and bloops, but the bleeps it does are quite nice...

I actually Have one and love it. It just doesn’t have the range (5th and octaves) that I want.

Definitely nice, and they do cool things. But the 70 has the insane 12 voice pitchshifter delay where any voice can be switched to “inv”=reverse. It is Roland/Boss’s ultimate take on Mode 7. No other fixed algorithm box does that. That’s build-it-yourself space for VSIG, pd, Max, and that sort of thing.spacelordmother wrote:I've got quite a deal going in BST for 2x SE-50s just sayin![]()

Re: Boss ps3 and Charlie foxtrott alternatives
What specifically do you like about the Charlie? I own one, have it on my board, have used to good effect while recording, but I find it's options are limited for live use because you have to predetermine the length and there is no press-and-hold function to elongate what it does for as long as you want/need. So currently I rarely use it because I want the precision of something that is tempo-related to be determined by me/the rest of band's playing and not by a rigidly configured knob that does X and no more or no less unless you free a hand to physically tweak the knob constantly.
Pretty much all delays I use have a tap tempo for similar reasons, but that's material for another thread...

See, when I had mine I was annoyed by the same tho g. The ability to not tap tempo sucked. But for some reason I really miss it. The threshold idea is really cool as well as the random bends and the what not. But yea, that’s why I’m seeing what other people think. I have a hex canyon that I was hoping the s&h mode would suffice but it’s just not the same

I always wanted a deluxe Charlie Foxtrot with tap tempo for the time-based parameters (buffer size/rate and length) with a ratio between the two. So maybe the buffer length/rate is tapped at quarter notes and that note lasts for a full measure before being replaced.

Re: Boss ps3 and Charlie foxtrott alternatives
I know it's not tap tempo, but maybe put a couple of pots and switches together to make a preset CV/exp controller for the foxtrot.
Like two stomp switches, one chooses pot A or switch 2. If switch 2, it's either pot B or C. I might put a lag in there or a vactrol to smooth out the transitions.
