Partially Jazz related.
Finally got time to watch that Quincy Jones documentary everyone was talking about a few months back, so today I've got this stuck in my head:
Nice--Austin Powers knew
Q came up as a trumpeter and arranger in Dizzy and Basie's band....
The style is not necessarily to the taste of most post-modern listeners, but he did some fine work in a pure jazz idiom. Chack this album Basie did of all Q tunes after Jones had spread his wings and flown a little bit closer to fametown (def. skip the first tune if it's too slow for ya--things pick up a tonne on track 2 ) :

"In a moment of unparalleled genius, Noel Parachute headed off this potential disaster by unplugging the microphone."

Saved in my Playlist!
I must admit that until last night I didn't know he did so many years as a jazz musician and producer. Definitely wanna listen to more.
