IEM's

Post by JonnyAngle »

This is such an old man problem, but I need a solution!

I have some fluid in my ears, or its not draining right or something. My amps aren't super loud, but the high treble hurts my ears.

Has anyone Mic'd an IEM setup? I have a set of Alclair Audio monitors. Can I just plug an SM57 into my ehx headphone amp and run into my monitors? I might have a band practice coming up, so I'd use this solution there as well, cuz some of the boys like to rip loudAF

Get you a pack of steroids dawg, I had fluid blocking one of my ears for about 2 weeks in 2017 and it was one of the most miserable experiences of my life. I already have a hard time filtering background/foreground sounds in loud environments, but being down one ear on top of that made it virtually impossible to talk to anyone in even a slightly noisy space. Took the first dose of steroids after 12 days of blockage and about 6 hours later I felt a little pop and BOOM, drainage baby!! One of the most relieving moments of my life.

As for the signal chain question, I am not sure how much gain an EHX headphone amp has on tap, but you might wanna throw a clean boost in between the SM & the headphone amp if you've got one. I imagine a headphone amp would probably be expecting instrument level so you might want to use something to bring it up to more audible levels.

Hope your tubes clear up soon bud!

solo tunes:
completed works || loosey goosey releases
associated acts:
Raab Zamboni (fake jazz/real noise//sax, modular synth, editing, misc) || Field Guide (my best friends//sax on 2 tracks)

I make t-shirts, patches, koozies, buttons, CDs, sometimes tapes, and eventually i'll start working on pedals again. DM me for pricing!

Agree with what Baremountain said. Also, maybe ask the other dudes to turn it down a tad. Practice is not about who is the loudest. Fucking guitar players Jesus. hahaha.

1. Quiet is best
2. Why not just use earplugs?
