Ab-synth picks up the radio
Anyone else get radio interference with the ab-synth? It's super annoying. ESPN, I think. I dunno if having the the bass mod makes a difference. I want to sell it, but I don't want to screw anyone either. Maybe there is something I can do it fix it?

Re: Ab-synth picks up the radio
I've had it happen before, but I don't think it was my absynth. If it was it must have only done it once, cause I use that thing every day and it doesn't make anything but sweet sweet fuzz. Mine does have the bass mod, but I use it with guitar just as much as bass.

Re: Ab-synth picks up the radio
Try adding a small pF cap & 10k resistor from the input to ground (Creating an RC Filter) may cure it, or exacerbate it depending on frequencies plausibly but unlikely.
Also dependant on the design... a small pF cap between the collector and base of the transistors might sort it.
Or an even simpler option, just replacing the original wire with shielded wire could cure it... or simply moving it to a different place in the room.

Re: Ab-synth picks up the radio
RF interference is highly dependent on geographical location, location in house, cables (and how shielded they are), amp, time of day (like nighttime!), etc.
At my house, the only pedal that consistently picks up radio stations is the Wolf Computer, but typically only at night and on one side of the house more than the other. So it's really hard to say what's causing it, but you can google "RF interference in fuzz pedal" and find all sorts of suggestions/info. The AB-Synth shouldn't be any more susceptible to RF than other high gain fuzz pedals, but that's not to say that (depending on setup/location/etc) it wont pick up some odd foreign stations here and there.

Re: Ab-synth picks up the radio
I've got a fuzz pedal that picked up conservative rant radio in my last apartment. In the new house, it doesn't get anything. I actually kind of miss it; I wish I could turn it on or off.
My advice: Don't get rid of the Ab-Synth - Move.

With the chalice I had, it was impossible to get it not to pickup radio, at my house or anyone elses.

Try cranking the volume and turning the cabs around to see where it picks the signal the most. It could be as simple as that. I just turned the levels down a bit, compensated it from the amp had the cabs in the other end of the room - no unwanted noises.
If it's really, really bad, You can also try praying.

It does get fun for noise improvs, or if you're in a Radiohead cover band.

It seems all my pedals pick up a "WOOOooooooouuuuuOOOWWWWWOOOOoouuuuu" noise, kinda like an alarm clock or a fire alarm or something. It kinda totally rules.
