Can anyone compare the black setting to a Superego? In description, it seems like it should be similar.

A shot in the dark (world!) here, it might be possible there are trimpots inside the DW like there are in the Warped Vinyl HiFi that can be tweaked to bump up the wet’s volume. Before doing any tweaking, feel free to reach out to Chase Bliss for confirmation of this.
Thanks for that, will check that out and report back
Anyone get anymore infos on the interior trim pots in this little beauty?

From Mike at Chase Bliss:

There isn't a master volume trim in the Dark World, but there are trims for wet and dry levels that we use to balance the output during calibration. I'll attach an image to this message that shows which is which.

Adjusting these won't affect the functionality of the pedal, but I do recommend making a note of the starting point in case you want to undo any adjustments you make.

Do you guys feel like you need a favorite switch/midi to fully utilize the pedal? I honestly see myself sticking to mostly the same modes, spring and vhs, based on demos, but I also like the other two dark modes a lot. But I want as little between-song tweaking as possible.

I'm picking up a DMC.micro as my next purchase. There are a ton of good sounds in the Dark World, but I've come to really, really appreciate the spring as a part of my "normal" sound.

That being said, the knob layout, combined with the dual sides/switches make tweaking pretty quick and easy, but a MIDI switch would be really helpful to fully realize its potential as the only reverb I need on my board.

Have you tried it before dirt? Right now my dirt/delay chain is mini-el cap-fuck-unpleasant surprise. The fuck is always on super light and the US is gnarly but has a lot of clarity the way I have it set. I'd probably put the dark world between the El Cap and the fuck.

Anyways, I don't think I'd use the spring 100% of the time, but probably 40-50%. But I'm curious about that and the vhs mode pre-dirt.

The Dark World sounds great in front of distortion/fuzz pedals. It sounds great in front of other reverb pedals. It sounds great behind other reverb pedals and also behind distortion/fuzz pedals. It sounds great in front of tremolo. Basically, it just sounds great?

If you want a front-of-chain always-on spring sound, just grab one of those $25 spring chicken clones from ebay and save the dark world for the weird stuff. Those cheap jammers sound surprisingly great and honestly they only shoot sparks when you plug the 9V in which I believe is a pretty manageable problem.

It sounds great in front of dirt.

My set up is mini - bitquest - nemesis - dark world - fuck

Similar use of the fuck to what you’re describing.

The “vhs” mode with mod set about 2 o’clock into long decay plate into fuck is my favorite sound. You get these little artifacts that set off the crackle on the fuck and i love it.

You can certainly use this with the live mode and two presets. You will get a lot of great sounds.

But - and sorry if I already said this in this thread - I get way more out of this pedal with the faves switch. I've had most of the other CBA pedals, and I generally found that the two presets covered my needs live. But the ramping options on this one offer an expansive pallet, and with the tiny toggles and whatnot I don't want to be trying to re-create presets on the fly live. So I made room on the board for the faves switch - and I'm really not a preset user to begin with.

Same. But I'm torn between this and the Atmosphere. I sold off my reverbs down to just a Dunk Tank and really quickly regretted that move.
