Modding vintage DOD Performer 18v 1/4" to ..not 1/4"

I know I've seen folks who have modded the old DOD 1/4" 18v monsters to take 18v modern center negative stuff.

Anybody with a parts list/wiring info for this one?

Realistically, while I have a chain of adapters I can run into it, I'd rather...not.

I found a replacement for my venerable DOD 595 (not 595-A) Phasor I used for the first decade or so of me playing at a lowball price (with a battery door, no less!).

I just don't particularly relish having something with a 1/4" power jack any more if I can help it (obvious reasons).

I'd need more than that if I wasn't going to let it live in the ES-8 for eternity anyway (since the buffer on it when bypassed always did suck)....but....since that's a non-issue now...

You could probably just drill a small hole somewhere else on the pedal and add one of these:

It's a really simple part so it should be really simple to wire it up for a standard center-negative plug. Just make sure the ground is connected to the right pin (the shorter one).

Yea, looks like what was used for the modded one I saw a photo from owned by The Artist Formerly Known as...I kid, I kid, Mr. Spiral Effects.

With a washer, fits in the existing hole.

Just wasn't sure what the part *was* as much as anything.

You have to enlarge the 1/4" hole a little but it is very much worth doing. I've modded several of my Performers in this fashion.

(I just lived in fear of that plug when I gigged with one in the stone age for ages, somehow no matter how much LSD I ate I never plugged it into the front of the Space Echo or Bassmans or something expensive - and didn't think at the time to put some red electrical tape on it to ID it)

Yea that first jack should work fine, and you wouldn't have to expand the existing hole. Definitely use a washer like you said, as the jack will stay, but if over tightened or pushed hard it'll likely pop into the enclosure. The lip is just big enough.

Of course the second works as well! Just a matter of if you want to "permanently" change the pedal. The first smaller jack doesn't have the battery switched terminal either, but I don't think you'll be using that anyway.

Let me know if you need one of either of those jacks types and I'll send em over. I have plenty and that way you don't have to place an order somewhere for just that.

Will do, I'm waiting on said pedal to arrive and run it through the paces - if it's everything I remember (including on my isolated tracks using it), modding is definitely in the cards.

Technically I could just drill in the battery door cover too, since it snaps in..and..

On the DOD Buzzbox I have, I've exchanged the original power plug with this Lumberg style one.
I had to drill a bit the hole wider to make it fit, but now I can use a normal Boss style plug to power it.
And yep I don't care about collectibility.
