Anyone use one?
From what I've read, it seems like something I would enjoy...and might go well with my main distortion (vh140c gain channel in a pedal  ) Does it take pedals well?

What's a good price on these? There's one locally for $300, but it comes with the cab too (Jaguar), though I don't remember the exact model for it. I assume it has the same run of the mill speakers it came with. I don't have a need (aka space) for the cab, and it's a little rough, so resale might be difficult.

I know a couple of the guys there, maybe I can talk 'em into breaking them apart.

I have one that I use on occasion. It can definitely bring the heavy. It takes pedals ok. I would definitely buy for that price if I was in the market and had the funds.

Vintage is vintage! That was my first guitar amp....carpet covering and all! I had a sweet stack setup to bust out shitty riffs through a Digitech RP-7 pedal. The clean channel was pretty good and took pedals pretty well for what it is, the dirty channel not so much but that's to be expected....I had gravitated to Boss pedals by the time I moved on but they sounded pretty solid through the clean side on the Randall.

Thanks for the info! Seems like it would be a decent cheap amp for my shitty metal riffage

I haven't been back there yet, it may have sold...or maybe it's even cheaper! They have a peavey 8x10 for $190 and a pair of peavey 18"s for like $250 too.

Played through one not too long ago at a jam with a new band. Distortion is very old school solid state sounding. If I saw one on the cheap I'd definitely buy it myself. Reminds me of a beta lead

:snax: I can get with that. Did you mess with the treble pull gain boost trick?

My only concern really is getting/making a foot switch for it. It's one of those wonky 6 pole plugs, and I'm not sure where to buy that part.

I might have one of those. I'll check the next time I'm at our band space and report back if so.

If you're handy, you could fashion one out of a molex panel mount plug. It's a pretty common part at electronics supply stores.

Love the distortion sounds. It will Pantera (I won't, though), and it's also sludge heaven (hell?). It might make the Ampeg VH pedal redundant. I don't know if I've ever futzed with the clean tones, though, and I don't currently own one to try.

On the other hand: the VH pedal + a Quilter head would be a light, small, loud, badass rig for solid state metal sounds.

I will look into that for sure, thanks. I wasn't sure what the heck those were called.

That would be great! Interested, if I end up with this thing.

Haha perfect! I think I'm gonna go today and see if it's still there...my 4x12 has been feeling lonely  I don't know how much use the clean channel would see, but having the option is nice. I was thinking too, having the SnK VHD on the clean would let me have to different gain channels basically.

Funny you should mention the Quilter, someone (Neon?) was praising theirs recently, and I had been meaning to look at them again. I'm not in the market for one so to speak, but... :animal:
