2018 gear goals?

1) Do an ass-kicking demo with my KORG 800DV in combination with the Copilot fx Broadcast.
2) Finally fix my KORG Trident (lovely 8 voice analog synth/brass/string beast).
3) Do an ass-kicking demo with my KORG Trident in combination with the Copilot fx Broadcast.
4) Record other pedal and synth demos.
5) Finally do a BOSS SYB-3 demo that I wanted to do for many years!
6) Purchase a KORG X-911 Guitar Synthesizer (hopefully!).
7) Finish the KORG vintage effects website that I have in progress for over a year.

I managed to buy a KORG X-911 today. And the Trident is up and running again since a few weeks. Two gear goals accomplished already!

Well, I didn't manage to strike all of those points from my list, but 2018 has been a rough year. I think that I have never dealt with more health problems like I did last year. Let's see what I can achieve in 2019.

Hm.

- Flip one of my amps, as I don't need two (Jazz Chorus vs. Fender Bandmaster - FIGHT!). Done! Kept the JC.
- See if I really need the AD4096, or if my AD-80 or AD-9 does everything I need. Done! Maxon master race.
- Fuck around with the Grazer even more, to see if it stays. It left, but will look into a future v2.
- Copilot and Rochambeau tourbox hype. Well, Copilot's got postponed.
- Being content with my current oscillating artillery. I even sold more of them!

I think I'm doing good thus far.

Our admiration and friendship.

1) improve modular setup but without going too wild did this. Sold things, bought a couple, haven't changed it in over 6 months.
2) don't buy any pedals unless I also sell one (this might allow for one or two exceptions lol let's be honest) bought 7, sold 6 (plus some I bought then sold in the year). Close enough.
3) new bass cab done and have barely used it because my band hasn't done much
4) 12 string electric? didn't do this but I think that's a positive move to not get more stuff
5) make and release a lot more musicrecorded a lot a lot, released two records, so I'm content.

My gear goals:
Etch more pedals.
Up my knob game.
Put some alumitones in my V.
No new pedals. Maybe upgrade from Xero standard to deluxe. Maybe a BD-2, and maybe a DS1. Otherwise nothing.
Case for my V
Keep my pedalboard unchanged all year.
Use more effects.
Play guitar more.
Record another album.

Got an etched pedal on the way in as we speak.
I've changed out pretty much all my knobs.
I've got some alumitones. Gotta install them after I move apartments and can unpack my soldering iron.
Upgraded from Xero standard to deluxe. Went back to Standard.
I changed my actual pedal board, but didn't change the layout. Migrated to a Mono Cases pedal board, which is awfully nice.
Playing pretty much every day.

3 months in and goals are going pretty well.

Just gotta stay zen.

Put the alumitones in. Didn't like them. Got a Bare Knuckle Painkiller on the way.
Have bought some pedals, but mostly utility stuff - looper to get round second guitarist being in Australia, Ricochet to get around bassist not turning up to rehearsals. Got some Drod pedals coming in... but I'm mostly off the consumption wagon.
Got a crap case for my V, which I hate. But I got one.
Have changed up my pedalboard a lot - left the big board and cut down to a much smaller board with just the stuff I use more than once every now and then. The big board was still... nothing extraneous, but I wanted to try a more traditional setup. I think I like it... ??
Booking for a studio is underway, mixing and mastering are booked.

So I guess I did what I set out to do.

This year's goals:
Stop fucking with my pedalboard.
Record album with Gigafauna. Record album with N,ItRX
I think that's it.
If I have cash that isn't converted to tattoos then I'll get a hardcase for my head, and maybe some Wizards or something for one of my 2x12s.

Don't be too hard on yourself here—that's much harder than it seems. I know from experience as someone who tweaks and tweaks little things but has a hard time not getting discouraged and abandoning complete thoughts. BUT. Definitely doable. You got it!

Hopefully meeting those goals will inform my decision making process around what gear I should sell off.

That said, I do have the strong desire for a drumbrute and a nice analog synth

Managed to record some demos of songs.. still got a way to go before I feel like I know what I'm doing, but at least I am doing something. So I'll call this one accomplished.

My top three pedals to try and add to the pile in 2018 are, in reverse order 3) EQD Arpanoid 2) EQD Data Corrupter 1) Count To Five #2.

There are another 33 on my wishlist, but the last pedal to arrive here wasn't on it, so it's also possible that my 2019 top three will be the same as above and I'll have bought 10 pedals not on the list.


Last night I foolishly strayed from the path into the wonderful world of UC and Simon The Magpie's self-built noise making pedals, so as well as buying off the shelf pedals I'd like to have a go at making something along the lines of the Scrap Yard and the Door Stop pedals.

I don't have the knowledge to do any circuit bending, but I can drill holes and bolt things together without too much drama

I managed to acquire all of my top three, plus a few more

I didn't make anything weird, but I did build an Into The Unknown kit and tweaked the circuit of a Drone Thing (following Simon The Magpie's instructions).

So all in all I did ok

Thanks! I have a tendency to come up with little licks and riffs I like a lot and they remain that way. Just pieces of nothing ...but I hooked up some stuff today I haven't used lately and actually got a good start to something cool. I forgot how much I liked the sound of my Fallout. Needs a setup though...add it to the 2019 goals!
