Re: Gear in/out 2018
Let's see....
Out (gifts, since I wasn't using them and someone else would)
Boss DD-20
Joyo Ultimate Octave
Devi Don't Fear the Noise
In:
Marshall DSL1 & Marshall 1x12 cab
Gibson Les Paul Jr. DC
Two sets of Tronical/G Force robotuners
Digitech Freqout
Boss HM-3
Boss DC-2W
Avid Eleven Rack
Behringer DeepMind 12
EVERY LAST SET OF Fender stainless strings (.10s, .9s, didn't matter) I could find as they were discontinued after 20+ years!
And here I thought I hadn't bought anything much!

jesus h. christ, how do some of you guys afford all that shit? some of those gear lists would pay my rent for a year!

Re: Gear in/out 2018
i felt like i didn't do much gear whoring this year, but when i type it up, it still seems like a lot...
IN:
PEARCE G1 1X12" combo (w/the original EV 12L speaker!)
BOSS PS-3 (i've had several of these over the years, and i'm telling myself i need to keep this one forever)
OLD BLOOD Black Fountain
another late 80's EV 12L (that i put into my Chunky Homestyle cabinet)
red and black crackle finished 80's WASHBURN bass (it's hideous, but i've used it for several recordings & it plays & sounds GREAT)
CAROLINE Hawaiian Pizza
pedaltrain junior
TC Mimiq
BLK TRI Wildmen pickup
EHX Freeze
TV Jones Magnatron pickup
EARTHQUAKER Aqueduct (got this for Christmas!)
OUT:
BLK TRI Forseti/AOC pickup
HUDSON BROADCAST (two switch version)
FAIRFIELD Shallow Water
SS/BS BUZZZ
Catalinbread Semaphore
Pladask Taken
Mid Fi Clari(not)

In:
SS/BS TAFM (#24)
RMA Tetanus Booster
CB WV Mk.II
Ibanez DPL10
Yamaha VSS30
Kawai MS510
Korg Monotribe
Tama Swingstar drums
Big keyboard stand
Dual guitar stand
Bunch of components, tools and enclosures for DIY
Out:
BA Futureman
2 Divine Noise patch cables
I bought nothing new this year apart from components and such. Very happy to have some RMA and Chase Bliss on my board finally. Team Awesome! also lives up to its name.
A good year for synths. The VSS30 has been a lot of fun, that's probably my favorite of the lot. Kawai was a freebie, not bad at all. Monotribe is also great but will see some modding.
Drums I bought locally, cheap. Next year I'll get the cymbals and find a place to set it up.

I'm pretty sure this list will be notably smaller than last year's.

BEST:
It's a toss-up between the Thermae and the Tensor honestly. The Tensor is one of the most gratifying pedals I've ever played in terms of just *how much* stuff it can do, and do well - whammy sounds, tape stop, fucked up delay, normal delay, freeze, glitching, basic looping functionality, time stretching/compression, and mind-of-its-own wigouts. The Thermae is the sexiest sounding delay I've ever heard mixed with a simple, yet powerful innovation that sounds like nothing else on the market.
Eurorack-wise it's a toss-up between Marbles and Rene V2. Both are incredible sequencers with seemingly limitless depth. You'd think that something as simple as a sequencer would be all figured out & streamlined by 2018, but I always found some key thing missing until these two came along.
WORST:
I guess the E352 because I hooked it up for about 30 minutes, could not coax anything interesting out, and sold it.
There's gotta be some stuff I'm forgetting but you know how it goes lmao. Still sitting around where I was debt-wise this time last year so at least it looks like this year's ridiculousness didn't cost me too much?
This coming year I'll actually be going on at least one, likely 2-3, big boy tours which will necessitate a change in my gear-buying & -hoarding habits, so I'm hoping to shrink the incoming list, grow the outgoing list, and use my usual gear money to whittle down my debt mountain when possible. I'm also pretty happy with my selection of pedals (a flange or phase would be nice, but not necessary) & am basically just looking to trade out a few modules without growing my setup any larger. If I'm being real I'll probably cop the new Mutable Clouds revision, but not much else seems to be on my horizons gear-wise.

Re: Gear in/out 2018
I probably make less money than anyone here, but I'm really, obsessively good at finding significantly underpriced things. Also, I'm something of an ascetic otherwise (I bought my first new pair of shoes in like 7 years a couple months ago, for instance), a gear anchorite walled away by cabs and cases.dubkitty wrote:jesus h. christ, how do some of you guys afford all that shit? some of those gear lists would pay my rent for a year!

Re: Gear in/out 2018
I had a pretty slow gear year.
In:
- CBA Dark World
- Source Audio Nemesis
- CBA Warped Vinyl
- Korg Pitchblack Mini
Out:
- EQD Avalanche Run
- 80Tape In Limbo iii Compact
- CBA Warped Vinyl
- Korg Pitchblack ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Best: I’m really loving the way the Dark World works in my set up, but still honeymoon phase, so I’ll go with the Nemesis here. It’s really, really nice with the Neuro App.
Worst: Not sure this is fair since the list is so small, but the In Limbo was my worst purchase. I bought it with a ton of hype and it really didn’t deliver. My primary complaint was the volume level. That being said, the delay sounds were good, but for my purposes, it just didn’t work out.

Re: Gear in/out 2018
This is a possibly incomplete list but I think it's about right. Not as bad as I thought, but could do better. I've not bought any modules for well over six months so I think I've settled with that, and I'm happy with pedals too.
