i think my workhorse is fuct up. lots of setting on mine make no sound at all.
does yours do that?
i left it at home while on the road...it sorta bummed me out.

I have a one or two settings like that, you see ALL the controls are interactive so if you just change the switches you have to change the gain, starve and tone as well as the two side controls to get it to work right, the WHF is a odd beast. also it responds a little different to bass then guitar as bass puts out a bigger spectrum so stuff I can do with the WHF I can't with guitar and also the other way round. Knowing what I know about the whole build thing I wouldn't be totally surprised if something happened n shipping.. I know it might bug Devi a little to get into this but when I picked mine off my steps and the box rattled it scared the shit out of me!

Also I found this a very hard pedal to get to know and have had to spend a lot of time with it to get where when I made a change in the vid I get the sound I was shooting for... that is what took so long... that and finding the time....

I'm not even sure who could fix the thing if there is something wrong as Devi threatened hammers to any malfunctioning ones. It might be nothing, might be a pinched wire, hard to say I'm not the greatest with this stuff... I found after building 5 pedals I don't like building pedals or even modding them... I hope it's nothing! and I totally understand how you feel.

She was much kinder in my situation, the hammers were kept at bay
...but let's just say as of Monday (after being inspired by this thread) there is 1 less functioning workhorse out in the wild.

I think mine was put out of its misery a while ago by devi. all the screws were broken off, the metal ripped when trying to loosen the back plate, and i had the same problems as elwood concerning the overall functionality. Devi was really nice about the whole situation though, so i'm not trying to get shit started.

No I don't think any of us are trying to get anything started. But I think it is good to have it out there none the less. Reality is Reality.

Mine works fine and I only have one broken screw, but the board is flopping so I'm really careful with it... I'm still on the fence about trying to take off the back to glue the board back in place due to not wanting to brake off the screws and have to deal with that.

This was another reason why I waited to do this... the whole subject is bittersweet. More one way or the other depending on experiences.

when i got mine i had one broken screw but the board was secure. it is now flopping. :erm:

hey, it is one ridiculous pedal really. its like an instrument in itself. you really cant just flip a toggle and go. tweaks need to be made to dial stuff in but oh man when you dial stuff in....

i spent a few hours one morning just sitting on the couch with the workhorse into a pignose and time few all while standing still... :trippy:

Word. Devi was apologetic about the whole thing, and I was lucky to even get one. No ill will on my part.
The build was pretty ambitious, and am glad she put out as many as she did.

Fucking-a. Somehow those 2 pedals made up the entire unholy trinity.

Now if there were only an ID video demo to sit upon the throne next to Mud's WHF clip.

def not me....i love devi and all her querkiness and the WH is a strange beast for sure. when (if) i ever get home for a break i'll take it on the road with me and suss it out. there is def something loose as the pedal changes sound as you move it.
that being said.....the sounds that i do get out of it are worth the price of admission.
i do admit being a bit bummed on first arrival, however not enuff to decry it as foul. in fact i'm very happy to own it and will buy the Warhorse if it ever sees to light of day.

thanks mudfuzz..

On a side note, it's looking like the Warhorse as originally proposed will not see the light of day, but the Warhorse name may be attached to the new SM Plus 2-footswitch pedal that Devi is working on ( per this thread: http://forum.deviever.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=9219 ). Still pretty exciting, as it may be able to get at Cherry Pop sounds and more...

So why so many problems with these? I don't understand. Like, what's keeping any of you from just popping off the back and having a go? Why are screws breaking? What's so different about this one other than the effect itself? Too BRUtal :animal: ?

It is a long a drawn out story that got deleted off of DEFXFM... Basically all the screws got lost and along with a lid or two in the move so the screws that don't match the threads on the boxes were used and forced in... The glues or whatever adhesive that was to hold the boards [which are point to point] didn't hold for some reason.
