Re: OD w/ huge headroom
Skychord Truck Loud does the trick for me. Really fat and clear sound, tons of volume. Probably hard to find though, I think Skychord closed down.

Sooooooo..Elements + My Hiwatt Custom 50 = headroom wet dreamgoroth wrote:Yep. On 9V it has lots of headroom. On 18 it has super lots. Not even jwar with his insane output basses can defeat it.sylnau wrote:Dr. Scientist The Elements also work with 18v.

Re: OD w/ huge headroom
Yeah, i saw it's the larger enclosure. I could consider it anyway if, with the 2 channels, it can substitute not just the OCD but also my DBA Interstellar Overdrive, which i use as a mid-crunch. I think i have to grab it up and test it properly.popvulture wrote:The no diodes setting on the Gray Channel is huge sounding, not to mention a shit ton louder than any of the other diode settings on the pedal—so much that switching to the setting from another can be a bit dangerous for your amp if you've got the level set too high.
I just picked mine up the other day after not playing it for quite a while, and was quickly reminded that it's a damn fine pedal.
Edit: oh and it's probably the same size as the Broadcast, just a little more vertically oriented.
Heard and read about percolators but never really got to try one. Just never felt it was what i was looking for.frigid midget wrote:Also, just had to ask...Ever try an harmonic percolator? There's plenty of good clones out there these days, I'm sure there's at least one with top mounted jacks and a diode switch. It's surprisingly good at medium gain overdrive tasks. Doesn't give you the Marshall-y high gain crunch of the OCD though. For that sort of thing, I'm using a DOD Gunslinger (no top jacks).

Boss OD3 has great low-gain sounds and a good amount of volume. Maybe not enough volume, but you might be able to try one at a local guitar store to find out.

Re: OD w/ huge headroom
Unity gain is at around 9 o'clock, and it does increment volume gradually. It was the first pedal I thought when I read OP's post but being a yellow Boss pedal, it might not be the most ILF thing to getBartimaeus wrote:Boss OD3 has great low-gain sounds and a good amount of volume. My mistake! By the time I read through to the second page I must've slightly forgotten what OP was asking forsylnau wrote:But I think he want it to be top mounted.tremolo3 wrote:Unity gain is at around 9 o'clock, and it does increment volume gradually. (Though, I guess, that depends on what type of clipping you've got in the KWB.)

grey channel doesn't come in purple. when you build your own KWB it can be whatever color you want (re: purple).Chankgeez wrote:Gray Channel definitely has the potential for more headroom than a Kowloon Walled Bunny.

plus, status. KWB is legendary.
