Why not get like an MM4? They are like a 100 bucks if you're lucky. Also someone mentioned the Worm and I second that if your friend wants analog, hardwire trem is probably awesome too. I'd suggest going digital since tremolo and vibrato are very different circuits and I bet it would be very expensive or half-assed if you wanna do both in the analog realm

Vibrothang is more of a phaser/harmonic trem than vibrato

Couple more options could be the Red Witch Medusa or Wren and Cuff Sonder with the mix/blend knobs cranked.
