Katana is basically half of the 001/100 (only one amp/fx chan), otherwise same exact engine - the Gumtown editor for the Katana versus the GT-001/100 makes that abundantly clear if you're familiar with the latter at all.

Sounds like a JC-40 might be in my future then. Thanks for the info.

Yea, it's one of the reasons I haven't bagged a Katana.
Considering I have a GT-001 I almost never use and a GT-100 that's in almost constant usage when I'm playing...

The Subdecay Octave Theory is on my shortlist provided I can find one decently discounted someplace. The Meris Ottobit Jr is also tempting, but not quite in my price range at the moment. Ideally, if gear funds were more abundant, the plan would be to upgrade to a WMD Geiger Counter Pro.

OOo dude. I scored a Beta Lead combo last week and one of the speakers looks like it was a target for shotgun practice. Looking at picking up the Weber Black Shucks or Bloodhounds. What's your feelings on the Gray Wolves with the Beta Lead?lordgalvar wrote:That'd be a good one.ts50b wrote:I'm hoping Supro overstocked and has one of their amps for 75% off again this year
I got my Weber gray wolves one year (I think the year before last) on Black Friday. That has been one of the best purchases ever (and made my beta lead)

The gray wolves tighten it up, made it a little more responsive and added some top end. I also felt like it got less hissy somehow. It was always kinda farty before, but more clear now. I think they fit the character and sound of beta lead, just better.
I got the grey wolves because I don't really want the heavy metal low end (want more of the old punk top end saw). I like them. I used to have celestion green backs in a carvin that I hated...but I think most any modern quality speaker is probably an improvement on the beta lead.
I would get them again...totally love them. But how the compare to the others or eminence or whatever, I have no idea. Haha. I ain't really that big on speaker knowledge and brands.

I mean, I bought 12 or 13 records from Riding Easy Records.
Gear wise, I bought something else but I can't remember so it doesn't count. FYI Satan, I don't care if I get duplicate stuff! I'm weird like that!

Thanks for the review! Haven't seen a lot of talk about the Tone Cvlt series. I think your review has cemented the direction I was going as I'm looking for that boomy low end. Going to proceed with the Weber Black Shuck or Eminence Swamp Thangs. The Chicago Music Exchange has the Swamp Thangs on sale for $77 with free shipping: https://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/li ... aker/14660lordgalvar wrote:The gray wolves tighten it up, made it a little more responsive and added some top end. Hoping Weber has a sale that lowers the Black Shuck price a bit.
As for Black Friday, hoping to find a sale on the Line 6 Helix HX. With all of the effects loops on the beta lead i'm sure it could provide some interesting results.

I had swamp things. Loved them. Have a swamp thing/wizard pairing now. Enjoy those heartily as well.

Caved and bought a SD-3000 at Sweetwater. Had a Delaylab a few years ago and preferred it to the DD-500.

I caved and upgraded Ableton. I do not regret. It's amazing.
