Best Synth for the Subway

If you are spending that much money on a synth, maybe see how it fits with how you work at home as well?

This^ is why I don’t want to go the gameboy route. Though, the Korg DS-10 is a wonderful synth app, I wish they would’ve released something as fun for the 3DS... I want whatever I use to be able to be integrated easily with the rest of my stuff. I know there are solutions to help sync gameboys with other gear, but they all require real gameboysand I pretty well only use my portable retropi these days.

I tried to run my Digitakt on battery power too and ran into the same boot problem. It’s part of why I got rid of mine, but not the main reason. The Digitone would be interesting if it can be battery powered, I could just get a deck-saver for when I stick it in my bag.

The SP-404’s a little too big to conveniently carry around. It looks like it’s almost the size of one of my Roland Boutiques.

The OP-1 really looks like the best option (unless the OP-Z is a ton funner than it looks)

ds10 should work for the 3ds. my friend runs his on a 2DSXL. there is M01 also and that other newer one (forget the name)
i get what you are saying tho.

as far as Digitakt and Digitone, they run on the same power supply & requirements so was likely a problem w/ your battery.
been running mine (digitakt) completely fine w/ a portable battery, specs are 12V/2A output

That’s what I decided on. I bought one from the next batch that Sweetwater’s getting, but that might mean I get it in January....


But I’m also a bit conflicted on this. It’s a groovebox. Historically I’ve hated every groovebox I’ve owned. So, I’m worried I’ll hate this too...

The only thing I've ever pined for in the op-1 is a dedicated reverb per track, beyond the one effect per track allotted.

I wouldn't ever consider the OP-1 a groovebox. It's way more like a limited, stripped down DAW.

I mean that's the worst way I could have worded it, but it does a lot of things the typical "grovebox" couldn't. It's like you combine sampling, synth plugins, and a four track tape recorder in a portable hardware interface. But that's a lot more verbose.
You'll really have to try it to understand.

And of course gear is very personal so it's hard to say if it will be perfect for you, but it still sounds like the closest to what you were looking for.

That’s essentially where I’ve landed on this. It has a lot of features and functionality. It may be more similar to a DAW than a groove box, it’s consistently called fun to use (something I’ve never heard said of a DAW). So, I have high hopes that I’ll like it

The Deluge actually looks a lot more useful with my entire setup than the OP-1. But I’m having trouble finding out how fun it is to use. It might have everything, but if it sucks to use then I don’t want it.
