Vibrato/Trem?

Post by dallasisacowboy »

Howdy! My friend is looking for an affordable vibrato/trem pedal. He's more enthusiastic about the vibrato but he'd be interested in having a pedal that can do both. Just looking for any/all recommendations, please and thanks.

I had this Marshall Vibratrem with a vibrato particularly good and tremolo just OK.
Only downside was the vibrato mode had a slightly volume boost.

Also. it had purple, so chank would approve.

The Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe models with the trem mode. Not affordable. Not a lot else in the analog realm.

I’d look into digital options for the cheaps. Hardwire TR-7 is worth a look. Maybe find a used Source Audio “One series” pedal—more customization if something very specific is needed.

Yes, I do! :!!!:

Not really a trem or a vibrato, but I'd go with a Randy's Revenge. It can kinda do a little of each. :idk:

Bigfoot FX Magnavibe? Never tested one, but heard good things about it so I breadboarded the circuit to try. The original is probably better, but even in this proto-state it sounds really good. No pitch vibrato, just a simple, smooth opto-trem that can be subtle or throbbing.

I also had one of these and it was definitely pretty good for the price.

Alexander Equilibrium (V1 has no tap-tempo or presets)

On the used market, either the V1 or V2 can be had in the $130-150 range. You get vibrato, harmonic trem, and tremolo.

I was going to suggest this one.

Grand Orbiter does phase / vibrato. Kind of a nice pair of options to have available in one pedal.

The Moog MF Trem does both effects simultaneously to a certain extent, but is primarily a tremolo and only a quarter or so vibrato. The Ibanez PM7, which is more of a vibrophaser with slight tremoloness in square wave mode may also be worth exploring.

The Marshall Vibratrem has an enormous volume boost, especially in tremolo mode. I didn't like it too much because of that. And its vibrato effect is pretty sparse. The best vibrato is the BOSS VB-2 or the new BOSS Waza Craft version VB-2w. The best standalone tremolo that I have is the Hotone TREM which gives the classic opto tremolo sounds of Vox or Fender amps. If you love stuttering on/off sounds, you won't like it, though. The Hotone ROTO also features lush vibrato sounds that I like. I don't know a pedal that offers both vibrato and tremolo in good quality.

I haven't played this one, but it's another versatile option, for anyone still looking for something that can handle both.
