I mean, what would you do if a bunch of companies started making a bunch of money building copies of the older designs for one of your pedals? :poke:
Well...I would've never given 'em a chance in the first place, I wouldn't have stopped making my own fuzz pedals for a decade :idk:

I honestly don't get why ehx came out with a klon clone BEFORE they bothered to reissue their own opamp/russian/triangle muff. Big surprise a zillion other companies took over the muff market in the meanwhile :whateva:

excited about all these muffs but I won't own EHX stuff based on poor customer service experiences, maybe if I buy em used...

re-reading the Muff History, which should be must read for any fuzz lover.

I'd marvel at how they managed to do that (make a bunch of money off my designs) in the first place, I'm a bean counters nightmare.

Really though I'm probably just guilty of not paying attention, but it seems like they've been reissuing the the big muff in various bits of era/trim for years now - instead of just building stuff and selling it.

Whatever, if I ever get to the point at which I'm selling hundreds of thousands of units I'll probably have my head so far up my own ass that I can't tell up from down anymore, so comparatively speaking they seem to be doing okay. :idk:

That "decade" was actually about 7 or 8 years, and the reason they did not make any pedals in that period is because the company did not exist. The old NYC EHX went bankrupt in 1984. When New Sensor resurrected EHX under the Sovtek brand in the 1990s the first pedal reissued was the Big Muff. Then in 2000 they reissued it again in the same type on enclosure as the old NYC version. Technically the Triangle is 5th Big Muff "reissue".

I was actually not talking about that particular decade, hence the klon reference. We've seen all sorts of weird experimental awesome ehx pedals come out over the years, but it's not until 2018 that we get to buy an actual opamp/sovtek/triangle muff from ehx :idk:

You said "I wouldn't have stopped making my own fuzz pedals for a decade". Just pointing out that they never stopped making their own fuzz pedals, other than the period they were out of business. There has always been a "reissue" Big Muff in production since EHX was resurrected...the NYC reissue has been in production 18 years now. Even the old Muff Fuzz got a reissue as the Double Muff back in the early 2000s, and again as the Muff Overdrive in 2008, and both are still in the line.

The nesting of the quotes make it look like them's my words!

Hahaha

I want to see reissues that look the part, in bent metal cases (I know these are still made, I just wonder as why the triangle does not enjoy that form factor).

Yeah, an anniversary pedal (50 no less) deserved a big box ...

A replica of the original box would have been cool. They would have had to make new tooling, but the modern pcb inside the vintage style box would have been odd.

I think the days of those big sheet metal boxes are numbered with EHX. There are only a few products left in the line in them and I expect the NYC BMP in the big box will be phased out at some point too.

But, people won't buy them. The #1 complaint I've seen about the muff is the size of the enclosure, it's a running joke that they're mostly empty space inside anyhow.

I'm frankly shocked that they didn't pursue the micro form factor like Ibanez is doing.
