Board to Death - Nels Cline demonstrates his pedalboard

Post by moid »

This is not someone I know a lot about, but I am impressed with the way he mashes a Kaoss Pad and a CT5 into his sounds... so for those of you who like strange noises, this might be interesting:

Plenty of ILF friendly pedals there :) He does a good cover of MBV as well!

Edit: fuck it, this forum never likes me when it comes to videos? I removed the s from https, what else did I do wrong?

I watched/listened to that already. It's great! :!!!:

(moid, you need to include the "watch?v=" in your thang.)

cool video.
feel like band practice with news would be really frustrating.

"alright guys, next song."

"nels, can you stop smashing your strings with a broken beer bottle and looping random blings? tour starts in a month and we haven't played some of these songs in years."

"oh, sorry, this kaoss pad really reminds me of my old space echo. trust me, I used to have one."

This was aces. He's pleasingly not precious about his stuff.

I always like this noodly stuff he does, which is funny as I kinda stopped liking Wilco nearly as much when he joined.

hes wrong about the whammy pedals though, all versions of the digitech whammy pedals have the "down 2nd" but the wh4 calls it "drop tune"

Agreed! Never owned a kaoss pad but want one now. I need to look up the models and figure out what that is

He uses a KP2, I believe.

But I’ve got the KP3, and I’ve had nothing but great experiences with it.

I don’t know anything about Wilco but I really liked his album covering Coltrane’s Interstellar Space.

Seems like a super rad, unpretentious sort of person too. Cool video.

I have a KP2 and KP3. The KP2 has 1/4" input. The KP3 does not (RCA).

I don't use it so much but it really does work best on a table top split from your regular signal, each to an amp of it's own. Super duper that way IMO.
