EHX 8 Step, anyone?
Looking to buy this baby based on the manual alone
but maybe some clips or any feedback of your experience with it would be nice.

Super for pedals, great as a preset manager, fun as a sequencer - works well with anything really. Turn a standard ring mode into a zvex ringtone, a pitch shifter into an arpanoid etc.
My only gripe with it was there was no way to disable sequencer start when it receives a midi clock, so if you have it on sequence mode sync'd to midi, and start your midi sequencer it immediately starts the 8 step sequence. You'd have to immediately press stop every time of you only wanted it running in select parts of a track. Or you could fashion a bypass switch between the expression out on the 8 step and expression in on your pedal.
Oh yeah teaming it up with an expressionator is a must if you have a bunch of pedals to use it with too.

But - not so hot as a synth sequencer - no gate/trigger output.

There’s an easy gate/trigger out mod. Details on Muffwiggler.

KYEO at amazon. They seem to blow these out from time to time. Got mine, new, for $99.

BTW-I have one you can have cheap. I sold it through Reverb, the preset knob got bent in shipping (according to the buyer anyways) which still works but I don't need it anymore. It's SUPER cool in conjunction with other devices. Lemme' know and I'll make you a sweet deal.

I use mine as the arpeggiator sequencer for my PLL. My gripe was that if you happen to stop it at the wrong moment, and a cv out is active, that cv output remains on, rather than turning off. That meant the the PLL would drone to the cv being injected. I had to mod mine to kill the cv out when I would stop it.

EH stopped dealing/supplying directly with Amazon a while back (when you could regularly find Amazon Warehouse open box discounts for almost any EH box very cheapie), but I'm sure there are third party sellers that do the same from time to time, but probably less likely?doommeow wrote:KYEO at amazon. Awesome! I love the interface on these, sliders are so much better than knobs for this kind of step sequencing. Must look into getting one again.Invisible Man wrote:There’s an easy gate/trigger out mod. Details on Muffwiggler.
