I've always wanted to try one of these: Iskrem Electro Cat'O'Dyne
For those who spend their time dreaming about GT120’s or juicy oranges, here is a pedal quite similar in topology as those monster tone machines! All tube signalpath of course.

I've wanted to try one of these for a long time, price is too steep for me though.

Re: Tube Pedals
i've been curious about these for awhile. how would you describe this? does it have a real tube compressor vibe? the online demos i've seen are terrible. The Eristic wrote:EHX Black Finger

Re: Tube Pedals
At some point I need to get my Damage Control Liquid Blues integrated into a rig. Not for blooz, though. Very nice textured clean and cleanish base tones. Absurdly huge on a pedalboard, maybe reasonable on a rack shelf.
I keep eyeing the Fryette. Seems fun in a way most drive and distortion pedals don’t.

Re: Tube Pedals
ive been interested in this as well. Was also wondering if there are any people out there who play through a solid state bass amp with guitar and use a tube preamp pedal to get a more saturated and valve sounding setup. Personally have been looking at the Ampeg PF500 and pairing it with something like the Correct Sound Custom MT preamp pedal. Anyone do something like this/tried something like this, and if so what results have you gotten with it?

Re: Tube Pedals
There was a company called Dimmed Light Devices that made some funky fuzz and OD pedals with tubes.

Yes, I play baritone & bass6 through solid state amps (and also through tube pre/solid state power amps, which have become my favorite). It suits me well. I use the myco/fryette as always-on dealios a lot of the time with the volume rolled back on my instrument and it definitely sounds warmer/livelier to me with the pedals on than just the base amp tone. I really dig it.ibarakishi wrote:ive been interested in this as well. Re: Tube Pedals
I used to have a H&K Tube Factor for the longest time. It was my main dirt pedal, in front of a Marshall 2204. Different band, different (clean) amp. I needed more gain, so I got rid of it.
It didn't sound like a rat or tubescreamer or anything else, it really had its own voice, without completely taking over my amp's normal tone. It made me rethink my "tubes in pedals are for show" presumption. Though I'm sure a similar thing can be done in different ways too, without the use of a tube
Always been curious about the old Ibanez Tube King, and the Freyette SAS.
The SAS is rare on the local used market. The Tube King...I want to look for the copper/tan version, right? Japanese vs US?

Re: Tube Pedals
thanks for the input. do you find it pretty much just as responsive as with a full tube amp? and do pedals translate well too? these are all pretty big concerns for me and i don't really have a way to test things before buying them heredallasisacowboy wrote:Yes, I play baritone & bass6 through solid state amps (and also through tube pre/solid state power amps, which have become my favorite). One that is missing from this thread is the Thermionic Effects TE-01 tube overdrive. It’s hard as fuck to find and it’s awesome.

Re: Tube Pedals
It's not an LA-2A or anything, but it does bring warm, tubey coloration to whatever you run through it and can go from relatively subtle to pretty extreme in Squashed mode. Also dirties up nicely. Compressor demos are always hit or miss, as the effects can be too subtle to really be audible on a youtube vid, plus, in my experience at least, 70% of musicians have no idea how to set up or play a compressor to get anything meaningful out of it, especially if it has more than two knobs. If you run across one for like $80-100, it's worth a shot to see if you like its flavor.dubkitty wrote:i've been curious about these for awhile. how would you describe this? does it have a real tube compressor vibe? the online demos i've seen are terrible. The Eristic wrote:EHX Black Finger
