Regular alumitones are super quiet sounding. I mean, low output.

I’d try the deathbuckers for sure.

I've definitely heard other people say that too. It's weird they market them as a medium-high output option.

They operate differently than traditional copper winding pickups so they have more output relatively to resistance measurement. Not sure how much though, I agree they are still very low output. They measure 3.4k, I think they are comparable to more like 7k copper wound, which is still really low.

Yeah, I get that it's a different scale. It's just weird they market all Alumitones as relatively high output (on their site the regular Alumitone buckers are rated 7.2 out of 10 on the Heat-O-Meter™; with deathbuckers at 8.8) when so many people feel like they're comparatively low output. I'm gonna go with deathbuckers and hope for the best...

I'd say they were lower output than my Nelson single coils... and they aren't hot.

Just raise them a bit if you think the output is low.

I had a hard time balancing the bass and the treble and the output.
Disarm Darcy has them now!

Still, I'm glad I tried em. I could imagine for some rigs they could be rad. Ryan from Dr Sci gets a sick metal tone out of his, and my setup is really similar to his setup, but I just couldn't get em to do what I wanted.

:idk:

Would almost consider keeping them for the looks alone...

I dunno. But my other guitars have a Lundgren M6 humbucker, Dimarzio Tone Zone humbucker, Duncan Distortion.
So maybe my frame of reference is screwy.

Yeah I suppose I'm using all single coils so maybe they're only hot in comparison to that.

I've played the Alumitones I got from Goroth a bit now and in a few different setups and I will say that to me, they're best described as a modern take on the Fender WRHB. These definitely have a low output for humbucers and have a very single coil-ish feel with an extended range, as these sound really awesome with a guitar tuned lower (DADGAD in my case).

Anyone ever try the alumitone bass pickups? Curious what they would sound like in my J.
