It doesn’t look like you’re able to transpose sequences on the fly easily. I can’t hit play, hold a transpose button and shift the sequence into the key of A.

Why is transpose left off of everything or implemented in a way that’s hard and unintuitive to use?

Agree. IMO, don't flip stuff you could imagine wanting to use in the future. I don't know a lot about synths but it's good to have variety of tools available.

What about using this rig for recording, and having a smaller version of this setup (maybe with certain prerecorded elements programmed into a looper/sampler) for live gigs?

It’s beginning to feel like this is the answer. Maybe I’ll just drop down to just the BSP/SE02/JP08/Sample for now (and not sell anything). It’ll be a relatively similar setup to what I’m using now, but substantially simpler to use/set up.

damn that sucks. actually just assumed it would do it because, you know, it seems to do everything.

It does transpose sequences, but it does it like the Volca FM does: in incremental values. If it could do that in a way that was easier, it’d be perfect...

There is one in b/s/t. Look for Greyscales' thread. That's the best place for WTB threads or things currently for sale.

Mine sold but I'm pretty sure baremountain is selling one. :thumb:

The FM sold a few weeks ago, sorry.

On another note, I did flip everything but the Beatstep Pro, JP08, and SE02, and bought a Digitakt. As it turns out, my workflow has a lot of knob tweaking to create changes in songs. So, I can’t just use the digitakt to perform with and record samples. I’d have to recreate the knob turning in the digitakt somehow, and I don’t enjoy the digitakt’s workflow enough to do that.

I think I hate “grooveboxes”. They do a lot, but making them do what I want isn’t very fun or inspiring. Current plan is to sell the digitakt, use the money to buy a sh01a and a volca beat. The BSP will control the JP08/SE02/Volca Beat, and the SH01a has enough sequencing power to stand on its own.

This might simplify in the future to JP08/Volca Beat/SH01a but we’ll see

That sounds good. I feel the same about grooveboxes I think, they can do so much and are amazing, but I prefer more accessible controls and menu tweaking doesn't suit me. Sadly because I looooved what I could do with the electribe but using it annoyed me too much. :idk:

My experience with the Electribe was like a summer relationship: there was so much potential and it was fun for a while, but there was no way we could ever work anything out in the long run.

The volca fm needs an iOS/Android app so external patch manipulation can happen away from a pc. Think the Yamaha Soundmondo.
