I lul'd fer realz.

As for classic rock...I'm put off by most of it because it's a bunch of dudes high off their asses jerking off with guitars.

Which also explains the sloppy playing. :erm:

I dunno, being high and jerking off with a guitar ain't so bad. If it's got soul, anyway. My opinion is a bit biased,as I'm a classic rock nut. Sloppiness is cool, too. Pete Townsend was sloppy. Miles Davis was audaciously sloppy sometimes(on trumpet,I mean). Beatles,Stones, the Kinks, all that shit is mad nice. Ron Asheton was a fuzz wah monster, and he solo'd his ass off, sometimes sloppily. And how can anyone deny J. Mascis? Does he not play solos? And long ones?(especially in the context of live performance)

All true...

Also Live at leeds is supper cool for not only cuz they rocked but the bass in on one side and the guitar is on the other so Pete Townsend can be turned off  "corse if you turn it the other way there is something wrong with you and you should seek help!

:p Leeds is a fantastic album! Underture=EPIC! To my ears,it sounds best as is. The Who said that Entwistle was the lead guitarist and Townsend was the rhythm guy. But between the both of them and Moon the Loon,it makes for some awesome live performances. Also Naked Eye from Isle of Wight is amazing

Townsend is the reason I have a Gibson SG with P-90s rather than humbuggies. :thumb:

If nothing else, Led Zeppelin > Foreigner.

Not to be argumentative, but I think "Classic Rock" is a term that should be restricted to discussion about top 40 radio bullshit... It's seems to have been invented specifically for radio.

Fuck that stuff.

I used to really love Zep. when I was younger, and still think they are a good band, just not one I think of or listen to much anymore (can't call myself a fanatic or anything)... Though I did have one of their songs on a mix tape I played a couple days ago in the car.

Frankly, if I were to make this thread, it'd be about Pink Floyd! :omg:

IMHO, the lead break in Communication Breakdown is the best rock lead ever--period. A telecaster through a little Supro.

Led Zep is hit or miss for me. I like most of their first album, can't stand the second, absolutely love the third, like most of the fourth, and then bits and bobs after. In context, they had a very fresh and airy sound bursting with great energy when they first hit the scene. I've always preferred Page's sloppy style compared to Clapton's precision, but I've never been a big fan of Plant. I wonder what would have happened had they scored Terry Reid, Page's first choice as a singer.

So it's oath of disclosure time?

Led Zep? I feel my bowels turn when I hear Stairway. Other than that I'm indifferent.
Black Sabbath? Doesn't do shit for me. Just once when I was so stoned I couldn't get up and had to stay on the kitchen floor, I got lost in the riff of Paranoid. Might have been the most stoned I ever was.
Rolling Stones? Bleh.

All of these get some creds for cockiness but I'd rather listen to the old blues.

I would like to have a plaster bust of Hendrix though. Imagine that, like fuxxin Beethoven. That'd be awesome!
