Not really tbh. Theres quite a few good guitar and amp techs in the area, but as far as retail stores, dipinto is all I know about.
Craigslist is great for gear. Internet is great for strings.

Ha, yeah, if there are, I haven't found 'em yet.
Although, I guess it really depends on what you mean by "good" and what exactly you're lookin' for.

Some real good deals can be found at DiPinto and it’s always worth popping in to browse what pedals they have

I'm working very slowly on opening one, but no, not really at the moment.

Roxy Guitar is a little NW of Philly IIRC and has a ridiculous amount of stuff although they lean a little high end. Still they have a ton of stuff you won't see in other stores and a pretty massive pedal selection.

Re: Any good guitar stores in Phily?
Yeah, Roxy is technically in Philly, but their give-no-fucks customer service and pile-of-junk-in-a-closet aesthetic keeps me from going there. "Can I check out that pedal/amp/guitar/etc.?" "Nah, sorry, I can't get to it because it's at the bottom of a pile of other pedals/amps/guitars/etc." This is a real interaction I've had every time I've gone there. As kitchen sink stores go, their selection is also only average. If they could give me amazing selection OR shoppability OR basic human decency they'd probably get some of my dollars.

I got the guy to pull a buried cab out for me and plug it in. I get what you're saying though. I think there is a lot of judging customers based on looks there.
I think their guitar and amp selection is impressive primarily because they sell a lot of brands that have very few dealers.

I don't know why I'm so bad at initiating contact with other humans, but we still have to get together sometime!smallsnd/bigsnd wrote:HEY ME TOObennroe wrote:I'm working very slowly on opening one, but no, not really at the moment.

Re: Any good guitar stores in Phily?
I promise not to open a guitar store in Philly so as not to compete with you guys.

Eh, Brian and I have very different plans for our stores. The secret to not competing is just not to compete.
