old Peavey 4x10 PA column for bass ?

Post by JTurbide »

Would that work ? Does the speakers in these handle bass or is it not much different from a guitar cab ?

Like these.. somenone is selling two for $200 CAD .. might be able to bring it down a bit..

I seem to recall columns as not favoring bass frequencies in the least, but I'm pretty sure every set I've heard was loaded with mid range "vocal" speakers.

You can probably find a Peavey bass cab for the same price. Those cabs might work for casual home jamming but it's not going to be worth the money or the trouble, IMO. See how they're matched to a 100 watt PA amp? You can do better for $200, look for a Peavey 4x10 or 2x15 (bass cab, not PA).

Yeah logic tells me to forget about it and get a real bass cab. .. but my eyes and the fact that I have a Peavey Standard PA head to match with it tells me to go for it because it looks badass...

In the end my girlfriend says it doesn't look good and she prefer the look of a ''conventional'' cab ... she might win

I have a pair of those. I don't think they sound good for bass, but I'm honestly a little worried to crank a bass amp too hard through them.

I would definitely go for the Traynor amp in the short term, and save up for a nice Peavey cab as others have said

Yeah I think that's what I'll do ... I should just go for a bass cab but for that price I can't skip the TS20

Got the TS20 ! :D It sound pretty cool but still fucking loud and seems to have little problems.. like it doesn't have the ground on the cord (not really a problem but still..), also looks like it has intermittent problems.. got it to sound like dentist tools and shit.. stopped producing sounds, turned some knobs and wiggled the jack and it got back ... I tightened the jack inputs and wiggled the knobs alot to see if it gets away and now seems to work fine but might go full retad again next time I turn it on ... still, for what I paid I'm stoked, the gain on this is fucking rad, like a fuzz or RAT almost

Yeaaa my first “rig” was a sunn concert lead and two of the 2x10 versions of those peavey cabs. They look cool but def skip (which I see you did) for bass.

That traynor is prob money much better spent!
