Reverrrrrb Choice.

Post by erik »

:hello:
even thought the weather has been so humid in my country and my guitars got molded and rusted. *literally
I still don't get enough wetness in my sound.

too dry, I seriously need some reverb.

i play kinda Alternative Rock, people said we sound Post Rockish, but Grunge somehow and even Shoegaze...
i have been getting away by feedbacking my DL4 all these years try to stay cool.
seriously my money went to a lot of pedals but still i don't even own a Reverb unit.

Been looking at:
- TC Electronic Nova Reverb
- our very own Dr. Scientist RRR
- Electro Harmonix Cathedral Stereo Reverb
- EHX Holy Grail

i want something flexible and be able to let me change setting from song to song.
what would be your choice or recommendation?

The RRR sounds pretty freaking amazing, I'd say. I let mlc borrow it for a while and when I got it back I was like "damn, this pedal is gargeous."

Also, changing settings would be as easy as twisting a knob to a preset setting, song by song. I know how frustrating it can be changing settings song-by-song, so this is a great way to cut back on time spent twiddlin knobs.

Another RRR vote. I love the ability to get a volume boost. It really lends to what reverb can do. Make yo shit bigga.

The RRR is great but probably not versatile enough for what you're playing. With a pedal like the Cathedral or the Hardwire Reverb, or even a Verbzilla you can do a ton of ambient shoe-gazey-noise stuff because they have weird stuff like reverse reverb(all of them), octave reverb (verbzilla) and infinite reverb (Cathedral).

RRR is great but I've been gassing for a Tech 21 Boost RVB with Trails lately. Amazing reverb.

Dude... my Miniberator is the only reverb i'll EVER NEED. Best fuckin' Reverb ever hands down, it's like having the most hottest and coolest girlfriend ever, but in reverb form... I will never stray from the good Dr's 'verb
"abandon all hope ye who crush that button..."

Jrmy: Exactly - "the fuzz is strong with that one."

The miniberator if you need to change settings a bunch is the way to go. Get the holy grail if you just want to set it and leave it alone.

What type of verb?

Based purely on GAS and being the proud owner of a holier grail, I would recommend the RRR, or Nova for anything other than spring. If you're looking for a spring reverb, get something like a little lanelei or spring king so you can kick the shit out of it for extra toanz.

So to you cathedral owners...can you blend the reverb out and use the infinite sustain on clean notes as well?

This is also true. The plate on that is fantastical.
