As much as I love bad mouthing Prymaxe, the did give me a ridiculous price on my Geiger Counter Pro. Was like 60 bucks off.

Three things:Blood_mountain wrote:And that's fine, I appreciate the perspective. I just don't want the thread to devolve into a dumping ground for negative opinions on any particular organization. I have had great experiences with Prymaxe, and others have not. Totally cool, let's move on. I'm interested to hear which online stores you do love. I'm genuinely super interested in hearing about the rad, well-known or obscure.Chankgeez wrote:You asked for "best online stores" and, IMO, Prymaxe definitely isn't one of 'em.Blood_mountain wrote:Ok, can someone start another separate “Prymaxe is assholez” thread, so this one, which is meant to be about rad online shops with weird stuff, can flourish or die on its own terms? Awesome, thanks!![]()
Despite obviously not being what you wanna hear, it's relevant to the conversation.
Plus, Prymaxe attempt to carry everything. Not just the weird stuff.
Ta!
It’s relevant to the converstation.
There’s already a thread.
It’s not something that just effects one person. It effects the community and builders in a negative way.

Re: Best online stores?
I can totally see why some people might have a shortsighted view on this.
It's an integral part of consumer culture.
We're all guilty of it to some extent. It's just important to be aware of.
Whether someone chooses to act on that awareness or not is something else entirely.

Have you ever found a retailer that provides a credit line exclusive to their store who does combine coupons/price match with long term financing? Just curious.echorec wrote:agreeing to match a competitor's prices, but only if you agree to slash financing from 18 months to 6 months.

I guess if expressing that a person has had good experiences with a retailer makes them a shill, then I am a shill.repoman wrote:bloodmountain prymax shill confirmed
Did you have any other online stores you'd like to recommend?

I always look at coastsonic for pedals. They’re really nice and stuff.

Vintage King is the only retailer I have a store credit account with that does 'conditional' price-matching. What I found most bothersome about their policy is that their site didn't have this policy posted in an FAQ/store card page, nor did the agent who took my order make a note of this. I didn't find out my promotional period had been slashed in half, until I got my billing statement.Ghost Hip wrote:Have you ever found a retailer that provides a credit line exclusive to their store who does combine coupons/price match with long term financing? Sweetwater, WWBW, and Musician's Friend will price-match, while keeping the current promotional terms intact. Once I couldn't get an Eventide item matched at Sweetwater, because it was during a 48-month promotional period. The promotion was longer than usual and with the price discount, it made less sense for the vendor to cover the interest accrued. That was understandable. So I stuck with WWBW's -15% offer, and got it on a 36-month plan. As a general rule, though, those 3 retailers have done matches for me, while sustaining the current terms (whether those were 18/24/36-months at the time).

I placed a $1,000 order for two NOS pedals. Later that day, I received an e-mail explaining that it'd take a few days to test them before shipping. I was told to expect deployment on Friday or the following Monday.Chankgeez wrote:Is Analogue Haven no longer in the running? (What's "not fulfilled", echorec?)
A week later I called, fearing they'd arrive one day while I wasn't home. I guess I got the owner on his cell phone (# listed on the site). He didn't seem enthused that I was waking him up at 11 am on a weekday. I was told the same thing as before. Well a month of Fridays and Mondays passed without a shipment. So after 31 days without any gear, I logged into PayPal and requested a refund, which was issued promptly. No apologies, no explanation, just a refund.
My first purchase with them must've been 7-8 years ago, and their communication has always been spotty. They keep all these NOS listings active, yet they show limited motivation in generating sales. They could list their best stuff in a newsletter, or they could move it swiftly on Reverb, but yet it just sits there in their warehouse.
They've got time to update their homepage with new arrivals and upcoming items, yet they leave some listings untouched for years----which is a pain in the ass, because they don't respond to all their inquiries. I don't know what the deal is with them, but $1,000 is enough motivation for me to get up before Noon.
Will I do more business with them in the future? I guess if they're the only game in town, but I'm not crazy about dealing with people who operate like that.

Re: Best online stores?
Speaking of poor responses from dealers, I forget the name of the place, but they dealt with vintage hard to find type stuff and it was one of those websites where you had to email them for prices because they didn't list them on the site. I emailed them one time about an item, and didn't hear back, and forgot all about it. Then, over 2 years later I finally got a "sorry for the delay, this item is $3500." Not impressed with their response time.

Certainly not fulfilled.
I've only ever bought a couple of things from them. Had a weird interaction with Shawn on one of those purchases. I wanted to trade stuff in towards the price of a pedal and we went back and forth via e-mail about it. I eventually got the sense that he wasn't interested in trading, but he didn't wanna just outright say it. So, he continually kept draggin' out our conversation. (As in the conversation went on for a month and a half.)

I tend to buy used or directly from the builder (to avoid import taxes), but if not I go with shops that support the smaller builders, like coastsonic.
Edit: this reminded me that I haven't bought a pedal since last year. What have I become?

You’d better get shopping! What’s on your wish list? I’ve got a few highlighted on mine as my next purchases...the Drolo Stammen just happens to be one of them!UglyCasanova wrote:I tend to buy used or directly from the builder (to avoid import taxes), but if not I go with shops that support the smaller builders, like coastsonic.

Re: Best online stores?
Everything in this thread matches my experiences (on both sides of the sales coin), except that the 2 month wait for a Caroline pedal from Prymaxe is almost CERTAINLY Prymaxe's fault.
