keep in mind these are handmade in limited quantities in the uk and the unit prices reflect very high costs and taxes.

Yes, they use good parts in their builds. Yes, those parts aren't cheap, but they still aren't near what it costs for any DAM or EFE pedal.
It's just like fashion. Does it reaaaaaally cost $250 for Luis Vutton to make a metal key chain? Nah. It's a status thing.
It's just like Bearfoot FX. They're in demand, wanted, and as such people will really pay however much to get it.

I wouldn't eat Ramen for a month to buy a D*A*M pedal. If I could spend the money without it impacting my lifestyle, why wouldn't I?

DAM pedals have some of the finest workmanship I've ever seen.
They are cheaper than vintage units and will last a whole lot longer than them as well.
Their repros of vintage units are spot on, but not much else.
If you get a DAM repro, it;s going to have kinda one sound to it.
If your after that one sound, then yeah, t's totally worth it. But if you want a lot of versatility, then you may want to look elsewhere.
Hope that makes sense.
I agree with all of these to a degree.
Having played a few D*A*M pedals I can say the ones I have tried all were fucking amazing but being repros of vintage pedals (like tonebenders) they really only do that one sound, but they do it amazingly well. I've owned three, one I've had for a long time, the other two I sold and got my money back (including my shipping cost), so if you got the $$ give em a try.

If you've ever bought a germanium fuzz based on a classic circuit, odds are it was based in some shape or form on a trace done by D*A*M or made from one of his schematics (which are sometimes made publicly available).
Dude has done a lot for fuzz/the tonebender and deserves the proper respect and the income that goes with it.
I've played D*A*M fuzzes that made me shrug.
I've also played (and currently own) a few that I will be buried with. Yes, that good.

Love love love that tone. And I'm not a tone lover. It's just exactly what I want to hear in a fuzz. I've never seen one of these anywhere else except for this video.
That said, the $430 that I saw a D*A*M Red Rooster go for is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much to spend on a Rangemaster clone. But hey, I didn't buy it. Some other jackass did.

ARGHHHHH
I need to find a fuzz as creamy as this when he first starts playing but not for $$$$$$$Stuff for sale/trade: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=33163&p=614984#p614984

I've never played one but have been thinking about trying one out. I'm just curious what makes them so expensive? Like is it parts, master building, a drop of demon semen? I know a few guys here have them as well as the EFE ones. I'm just curious if they really are the bees knees and cheaper substitutes really aren't as good?
Duh and Fukin’ A.
I’ve had a chance to play quit a few
Everyone was great in its own way.
My favorites are the Meathead dark, one of the late Meatheads voiced between the dark and the others and the Zeak.
Expensive yes, but you can spend a lot of money on a bunch of GC pedals or buy one freaking great pedal
