Very cool builds indeed, that Hunter is gorgeous, inside and out
- and the breadboard pedal is just genius.
I'm still doing easy stuff and just finished one of the 1-knob fuzzes from Fuzzdog, the 66BALLS. Sounds great, pretty aggressive and has lots of volume on tab.
It's supposed to have a BC108 (Q2) and a BC109 (Q1) - I used a BC108C and a BC109B (or C ? - I already forgot). I didn't find them without B or C ...
Both are in sockets though, so I could swap them.

The B and C designations are for gain ranges. The Cs are the higher gain of the two, and you can swap in 549's and 550's and 548's which are the end of life replacements for 109s and 108s. It's worth auditioning the various gain ranges there imo. The 550 is the low noise variety. They are cheap AF and have fantastic gain, up to 800 if memory serves. I have bags of them
The pedal looks great man. Nice work

Thanks for the nice words and the clarification. I just checked if Musikding has the 550's - and yep they do have the C's, gain range from 420 up to 800 (good memory thereBetterOffShred wrote:The B and C designations are for gain ranges. Sure man, I would recommend buying a selection of all three varieties in all 3 gain ranges. They all sound good

Re: Let's see your finished DIY projects!
I picked up this old wah/vol and converted it to a regular wah with a DPDT.

I thought it would be easy - like just replacing the switch and disconnecting a few wires - but it was a bit of a headache and I've had to get better at reading schematics to work out how to do it. Sounds pretty nice although the pot might not have much fight left in it. It's a much lighter unit than my more modern Vox wah.

No, I got that through an Act of Kindness from someone online. It's Vox branded, not sure how old it is.

Guess this can go here:
I wanted to try doing a Sonic Crayon-like finish to a pedal (EQD Dispatch Master with two mods: more reverb + momentary delay wobble stomp, for those wondering). It was fun and very educational! Learned a few more things for the next time I try something similar.![]()

Looks really nice. I remember reading and/or seeing a vid on DIYstompboxes (I think) that he actually uses a tooth brush to do his finishes. Dilutes the paint, dips the brush and rubs the bristles with his thumb to flick it on the sides.

Tnx! I did that on my previous build (Arcadiator), but figured I'd try without for this one. I kind of like both.

Yeah, ok but let’s talk about “more reverb.”
