Looking for a sub $400 synth

Post by bronzetalon »

I have $400 in gift cards for guitar center and I wanted to get a synth of some form. What's the best bang for my money for the $400. I only have a microkorg and the midi controller currently.

Arturia MicroBrute is around $300 new and you can find deals for open box or slightly used. You can also find different versions of the MiniBrute used within that budget.

MicroBrute or Monologue are both great suggestions. What kind of synth do you want though?

For that, I’d get the Roland JP-08, but to echo D.O.S., it really depends on what you want?

This. You're not too far away from a Korg MS-20 mini too.

Call them and ask for at least 15% off. They’ve gotten a bit more amenable to it. Grab a minilogue

Did I trade you that microkorg for a Dwarfcraft thing a few years back? Does the fourth encoder give ya fits?

^^^ yup.

Minilogue is crazy for the price... you can probably find an open box one. Unless you're dead set on a monosynth, and even then the Minilogue has various modes which cover that territory, though not as well as a dedicated mono.

I assume the Gift Card works for used gear too, right? I’d search online and see what they have in the used gear section. Notation K-Station is a fun synth and they usually go for cheap. I got mine for $175 and seen them around that price locally.

An Access Virus B or C would give you a whole lot of bang for the buck.

Here's one for 410eur. That's 508usd, but I've seen them go for less.
