anyone know anything about this paia synth?

Post by ifeellikeatourist »

I found this vintage synth at goodwill for $5 a few years ago, pretty much forgot I even had it, and just recently dug it out of my old room at my parents house. It looks badass, but sounds like an '80s casio keyboard--but not in the good kind of way--and I can't seem to get many other tones out of it. I don't have pics of mine, but it looks exactly like this:

Anyway, it's called a paia stringz n thingz (seriously, that's how they spell it), and I guess it was built from a kit sometime in the late 70s-early 80s. I was just wondering if anyone here was familiar with anything like this. Can anything cool be done with this, or should I just try to sell it?

PAiA still have a forum so you might raise it/search for it over there to see what you can find about it - http://www.paia.com/talk/

If you wanna make some money off it though, I wouldn't mind some of the chips from inside off the Chorus mod board (assuming it has one) it should contain -
2 x SAD1024 (These are very rare and sought after for repairs of vintage effect units, hence my wanting them to repair some old bits, but also my warning to be careful with them & this unit! )
1 x CA3080
2 x CD4013
The Entire things go for about $100 apparently, dunno if this has changed of late.
