I need pedal suggestions, bring them on

Post by Lebowsky »

This is my current setup:

Has been like that since 2015, but I started a new 3 piece project, no real direction yet but most likely tar/slint/hoover/etc inspired. Doesn't matter much because I still keep way too many pedals just in case I play with other people. Anyway, I wasn't too satisfied with the Woodchipper, figured I'd never use the Proteus, and the Whammy can do better than the Pog. I'm a Mastotron and a Flash Stutter on the bottom row, and I figured while I'm at it I'd try and replace both the PS-3 and DD-7 with a Raster. Now that leaves me room for something 125b sized where the Pog currently is.

I'm contemplating putting a CT5 there, but not sure I'd really have a use for it... and I think I'm covered in the dirt sections, never been a fan of muffs.

WHAT SHOULD I DO? :idk:

I mean, what do you want from a pedal or what do you need? I know I've just bought and sold, bought and sold aimlessly for years. It's fun but it gets kind of old too. If you have a specific sound or desire in mind, that'd be helpful in helping you decide for sure.

The CT5 is awesome btw. I use it with the mix turned down so it trails behind my clean signal. It's really cool that way.

There's a lot of fun options out there though depending on what you're into.

I haven't played bass in a band for quite some time, but if I did a slint style thing nowadays, I would want tuner>accountant>dirt (I prefer either rat, mini, or Eau claire thunder, just depends on my mood). So if I were you I'd get an Accountant and an Eau Claire Thunder

I know you said your dirt needs are covered, but maybe take a look at the Shoe Pixel. I like mine.

that's exactly my problem... I've been there, I am stil... and now, I think my setup is kind of stable... but, you know, if seems a shame to leave such a large empty spot. but indeed, there is no particular sound I am currently after. :idk: It's why I'm interested to hear some suggestions, based on your experiences, and what you'd do if you were in my place

maybe you're right, this might be the right way to think about it... I might try a Baby Thundaa in there

I'd make a small board with whammy, mini, rusty box and ps-3.
And then add other stuff later if I missed something. :)

Part of why that music sounds the way it does is how dry all the instruments are. The rest of it is how you play it. So if anything I would pair it down. Dirt, compressor, and a weird pedal.

I know thats not the goal of this thread though.

doesn't the Rusty Box count for bass? :idk:

I dug up the Baby Thundaa to play with my drummer last night, I did not have such good memories of it, but it's mean and sounds pretty good, I think it's a winner.
