Fender makes the TBX, but you can swap it in for the tone pot on any guitar. The TBX has an indentation in the center of its sweep. In that position, it's just like setting your regular tone knob to max. So you get the same sweep as a regular tone knob beneath the indentation. But above the indentation, you have an equally large range of treble boosting (or, technically, bass cutting). You don't lose anything by adding it – it basically just gives you a bonus range of brighter tones – so if you like having extra options there's little reason not to swap one in.PeteeBee wrote:I want to hear more about this TBX stuff. I always find the tone pot useless unless I want to just make the guitar sound muddy. Getting some more use out of the pot sounds great. What's a TBX pot? Googling makes it seem like a fender specific thing. Can I put them in my epiphone Dot? That's the only guitar I use these days.BoatRich wrote:TBX is backed so hard, I have them in all of my guitars and basses and they add so much useable range.Bartimaeus wrote:Given that you've got treble and presence dimed, you might want to try swapping in 1m for the volume and leaving the tone as is? Then if that isn't sufficient go for the tone as well. It's simpler and could do the trick. If you're intent on swapping both, 500k for each would probably give you the results you desire.
But if you are swapping the tone pot too, I recommend giving a TBX tone control a shot! I love all of the options it gives me with the bridge pup on my Tele.

Cool! Thanks for the info. That seems really useful. I'll probably order two at some point and put them in when I get around to doing the pickup swap that I've had planned for about a month. It's hard to work on your main guitar because I always want to play itBartimaeus wrote:Fender makes the TBX, but you can swap it in for the tone pot on any guitar.
