Rundown of my track (Soft Flora - ReChoir)
Thanks again to everyone involved! I will listen to the full album tomorrow on my way to a meeting.
Did some EQ tinkering in my DAW before sending it in also.UglyCasanova wrote:
Grabbed my OP-1 and plugged into it from my computer to sample your samples. Started off, still planing on going through with the lofi beat idea, checking out the sample of the gate opening and closing. Made a simple pitched down and filtered tribal-like drum kit, then went on to check out some other samples. First one I checked out was the mausoleum harmony sample, which I purely checked out because I have fond memories of hanging out there with my ILF budbuds. Decided to play around with it for a bit and ended up using it to create an entire choir (well, bass, baritones, tenors and countertenors/sopranos), plus some pseudo stringed instruments and writing an arrangement for each grouping. A couple of hours and many layers later I put down the OP-1 to realize that I had made something I never, ever would have made if it hadn't been for this collab. So, thanks for the inspiration, my dudes and dudettes. I can't wait to hear all the stuff you guys came up with!
Thanks again to everyone involved! I will listen to the full album tomorrow on my way to a meeting.

Wow. This turned out really awesome! Great job everyone. Definitely has those high altitude vibes. Okay, that part might be tongue in cheek.
I’m always shocked out how cohesive these turn out.

Yup, cool stuff and indeed (and surprisingly) pretty coherent.
Mine is the "Boring Machine" one. It was done just with the samples loaded in a RadioMusic in the modular and some light processing/triggering then fed to an EHX 22500 looper. I didn't really have much time so it's a bit rough and don't really know which samples I used
.
Thanks D.o.S. and DRodrguez for working on that

The cohesion is a mix of recognizable sounds, a well thought out order by DoS, and the mastering process to even out loudness and tonality between tracks.
Wonderful jobs by everyone. And nice album cover ibarakishi!
My artist name was hank.

Re: Open Source ILF Collab Vol. 2 (JAMS IS LIVE, PAGE 14!)
thanks for the kind words everyone
Hoped everyone would like it. The artwork was done with all film photographs collaged together in different ways that i shot myself and a few images collected from random material i have found. If anyone ever needs any artwork done in the future, please don't hesitate to send me a PM and i will be more than happy to help in any way i can people from ILF.
my process for making the music was pretty simple. I just worked inside the DAW to try out some new things that i had never done before with plugins and different ways of using some tools in Logic. I really just wanted to use this project as a way to try out some ideas i had but have not had the opportunity to try out until now. Some of them worked, some of they didn't. But in the end i learned a lot and enjoyed it all

Fantastic to finally hear this! Thanks very much DRod and DOS and Ibarakashi for their work. Our track was called moid_ILF_Baffle - did anyone use that one? I liked Ibarakashi's track the most - we had no idea how to use the singing children sample, so we didn't use that one, but it suits that track perfectly. I would definitely recommend doing this again, or recommend anyone who wasn't in the compilation to have a go the next time it happens, it really forced us to think differently about how to assemble a track.

Re: Open Source ILF Collab Vol. 2 (JAMS IS LIVE, PAGE 14!)
Just listened through on my way into work. Damn fine piece of noise.
Mine is A Tournament of LIes. Used bits from just about every sample. The main melody ( if you can call it that ) is made up of the Fuck YOu DOS sample, the violin sample and the brony sample. Drums were the grungy drummer, gate sample, and one other I can't think of at the moment. The end bit is procastenation' s sample of people talking.
I don't have a ton of time so the bulk of mine was smooshed and arranged while making dinner after work. Set up the lap top and an Akai MPK mini on the counter and went about learning Live 9. Most samples were squished or stretched in paul stretch. After mangling I pretty much used the simpler in chop/thru mode to play the samples. After getting clips that seemd to flow everything was arranged using an APC 40 for triggering clips and volume.
Anyhoo, everyone's is super rad. Need to up my game for next time. We should do a small physical release next time around, like a 2 LP ILF masterpiece.
The cover art is perfect.
